Hey so me and some friends wanted to play tower of power and realized that almost everyone makes up their own house rules for it (ie: some require land to pay cost others forgo mana costs entire) so we came up with our own format outline and I feel it may have potential, the format follows:

  1. A tower of power deck is at minimum 60 cards per player (300 cards for a game of five), this number may be exceeded ( however it is recommended you keep it to a size that can still be reasonably shuffled)

  2. There is no basic land within the library, instead basic land of any color is drawn at the start of the players upkeep in addition to the draw from the library ( this is the primary way to draw land - excluding card effects where basic land is searched for in which case land will be drawn from the land stacks and play will continue washout the shuffle as no search was necessary) A. The land draw does NOT count as drawing a card in the case of effects similar to that of Jace's Projection)

  3. All players share the same library however each player has his or her own exile and graveyard A. For mill-victories and or losses the mill triggers on the drawing from a library not there

  4. there is an added turn 0 where each player draws their hand in turn order

  5. all other rules are followed as per usual and card effects are followed as read ___________

Recommendations: - avoid cards that search for target permanents as the search itself will take a large amount of time - avoid cards that require a shuffle - non-basic lands may be put in the tower however this is only recommended if the land is more focused on an effect rather than providing mana - Towers should include more than one color with and equal ratio between each ( this will add a layer to strategy with which land each player takes as their land draw) - Abilities like surveil and scry can be a lot of fun, by controlling another players draw, same goes for Precognition Field ___________

Competitive Tower of power ideas - Russian roulette type deck, tower is based around mill so one person is left after everyone eventually draws from the empty library leaving one player standing - Control tower, counters for DAYS -Win condition Tower, include as many win conditions as possible so player seek alternate ways to win mid play rather than by kill -Graveyard control, (lots of graveyard effects) each players graveyard eventually functions like personal spell-book or library on top of the main library (Cards that return graveyards to library gain a new power in this one - however shuffling may be need to be split up among players for the sake of game time) ___________

Let me know how this sounds to you guys, and I really hope y'all might be interested in spreading it around - I think there is potential here!!! Leave any ideas below for improving the format as well as any questions on how any cards may play out!!!

Decided to give this a whirl.

Built Tower of Power: Laboratory Style as a concept deck. Gave it a spin yesterday with the boys, it was a fun deck and a real neat format. I'll be building some more decks as ideas come.
