So has no one realized how crazy this is?? Jolrael, Empress of Beasts and Slagstorm . This seems pretty awesome, and combo with something with creatures dying sounds pretty awesome!

Because it costs a lot of cards/resources...

You should look into Living Plane + Electrickery does the same thing much more easily.

Profet93 haha I certainly do not have $200 to spend, but that is lethal af. XD

Profet93 the problem with that combo is that Living Plane opens up your own lands to being destroyed by a board wipe.

BlackSirius: for reasons i already stated, that combo isn't really "lethal".

DragonSliver09 I see your point, but you could use an enchantment removal once you finished right?? May not be the best play, but if it keeps you the game long enough to secure a win why not?

I still like the idea of slagstorm with Jolrael though.

you could, but that assumes you draw your burn spell to finish the combo in the first place. until then, Living Plane would be a dead card in my opinion.

jolrael is a "bit" better for this particular interaction, but its still a 5 mana creature in Lightning Bolt range.

Hmmm I didn't think of that. I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to get it out turn 3 without taking substantial damage.

Unfortunately the mana cost is quite high for the combo, could be fun to do in response to someone elses board wipe :)

Jolrael was an epic commander of mine a few years back when everybody ran like 10 sweeps in their decks.

doc_cthulhu did you do any crazy shenanigans??

Thats a fair point regarding price.

Regarding getting your own lands blown up, I don't see how unless they have instant speed interaction for all your lands because you will blow theirs up immediately.

October 30, 2019 1:05 p.m.

Profet93: what do you mean you don't see how? if you play Living Plane by itself, it opens up your lands to being destroyed. thats how. its only good if you play the burn spell in the same turn. until then, it would sit in your hand as a dead card.

Let me elaborate, play living plane (assume it resolves), maintain priority, cast eltricikity overloaded. Since it's your turn, can you tell me what cards an opponent will run at instant speed to destroy your lands? It's worth noting you wouldn't play this if they have something already on board to destroy your lands.

I used to do something similar with Captain Sisay, MLD was my primary wincon. It became difficult for people to do anything, especially with city of solitude, dosan, grand arbiter and dromoka.

Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite + Nature's Revolt kills beta lands and pumps alpha lands.

October 30, 2019 2:07 p.m.

Profet93: you're not saying anything i dont already know. you're missing my entire point. until you draw that burn spell, Living Plane is a dead card in hand because you wouldn't want to cast it and risk having your lands be destroyed. but what if you never draw that burn spell? then you're just SOL. but in response to your question, Electrickery itself is an instant they might use.

DragonSliver09 the last part you're saying that they can beat you to the punch right? Meaning it becomes a "who can blow up lands?" the quickest game. You become vulnerable using Living Plane , but using Jolrael, Empress of Beast only makes target oppenent vulnerable, so your lands are safe with or without the burn spell. Makes me wonder why Living Plane is so dang expensive.

October 30, 2019 7:43 p.m.

its only expensive because its old and has only been printed twice.

As I stated, you wouldn't play this if they could blow up your lands and you couldn't blow up theirs, simple as that. Can also be used for other purposes than blowing up lands (ex: cradle).

October 31, 2019 2:43 a.m.

Profet93: "you wouldn't play this if they could blow up your lands and you couldn't blow up theirs".

2 things wrong with that. the first part, "if they could blow up your lands". you don't know whats in their hand, so you don't know if they could blow up your lands. the second part, "and you couldn't blow up theirs". thats what i've been saying this whole time. do you really want a dead card in hand? i sure don't. i'd rather have a card thats useful on its own. you're proposing a 6 mana combo with 2 cards that are near useless on their own. so please stop repeating yourself. you keep saying "you wouldn't play Living Plane unless you also have the burn spell" like you think it proves your point, but it actually proves mine.
