Hey guys I'm new to MTG and I have a question. If I have a permanent that has the ability to be tapped for additional mana and I use an instant like Blanchwood Armor does the permanents ability count as a land I control?

No. It only counts lands that say they are Forests. So Forest, Overgrown Tomb etc

Also Blanchwood Armor is an aura not an instant

There are exceptions to what was outlined above. For example, check out Ashaya, Soul of the Wild. Notice how it says "Nontoken creatures you control are Forest lands in addition to their other types." Because it specifies that non-token creatures are forests, they count towards things like Blanchwood Armor. The important distinction is that it says that they are forests. Just because something taps for green doesn't make it a forest - and that even includes land. For example, Mosswort Bridge is a cool land that exclusively taps for green, but it is not a forest, rather only a land.
