Exporting to MTGO

Maybe I'm missing something, but I keep hearing people talk about exporting their decks to MTGO to play them online. Is that really a feature of tappedout.net? If so, how do you do it? I can't seem to find an export link.

Bottom right of your deck, just above "Last change."

I assume that you have to own MTGO copies of cards that are part of the deck you are exporting.

That would make sense.

I don't play MTGO, but I do export to MTGO for Cockatrice.

I wish there were a decent online game where you could playtest your deck against actual players/decks. Bummer.

Have you tried Cockatrice? It's exactly that.

It's fairly accurate of playing in person (meaning it doesn't know the rules, you have to know them). Though, it requires a fair amount of getting used to (keyboard shortcuts, navigating dialog menus). Plus, you can create any deck you desire; no need to own every card you want to play with.

Actually, they have an excellent walkthrough of the basics in the wiki.

Great! What file format do you use for export?

Export to MTGO (as a .dec file), then place the resulting .dec file in the Cockatrice deck folder (Program FilesCockatricedecks).

When playing a game, click load local deck. The default is the folder listed above, but it only shows .cod files. At the bottom, change it to show .dec files.

That should be:

Program Files (slash) Cockatrice (slash) decks
