Elf Tribe Synergies

Hello guys,

I am building an elven tribal deck, but I would like to combine it with another tribe. Are there any elven card abilities that create synergies with another tribe? Preferably big stompy creatures, to complement the small nimble elves.

There are a fair few Druid synergies, if you so wish to tread that path.

As for stompy creatures, try Fierce Empath to find Daddy-o or Biggus Piggus .

You might get some luck with Beasts, with Totem Speaker , Wirewood Savage , and Advocate of the Beast .

Normal disclaimer: I value form over function.... BUUUT... I always liked the idea of elves and beasts working together, and there’s a fair amount of overlap there. Advocate of the Beast is an easy one, but stuff like Baloth Cage Trap can be super themely and fun! Just saw I’m not the first to mention beasts...so I’ll say “beasts: seconded!!”

There's not a lot of thematic overlap, but Hydras are often paired with Elves because they can take advantage of every bit of mana Elves can create. They're also big and stompy. Highlights include Mistcutter Hydra , Managorger Hydra , Lifeblood Hydra , Genesis Hydra etc.

Beasts are definitely the way to go. Wirewood Savage represents a huge pay-off in card advantage, and Chameleon Colossus dips in both tribal wells while giving you a place to put all the mana your elves can pump out turn after turn. Just hand him a Loxodon Warhammer and go to town.

Elves have quite a lot of overlap with druids, but there just aren’t many options in Druid tribal yet.

You don't mention what format, if any, you want to use the deck with. Or whether you want it to be competitive or casual. Or what colors you want the deck to be in.

Personally, I like going with Hydras like abby315 mentioned. Especially if you want to stay in Green. They are really great for dumping mana and having a game impact. It would also allow for going big while going wide.

Another suggestion would be trying Simic Elves. Your other tribes would mostly be merfolk and humans. Both of those have druids and shamans that complement elves. Going Simic adds a lot of versatility.

Or, go Golgari Elves. Don't worry about the tribes as much and just go with the more wicked side of elves. There are some really strong decks in Modern that are BG Elves.

If you're looking for another tribe to play with elves that has synergy with them, I would say go with treefolk.

Not only does going with that tribe open you up to black and to green which give you access to move elves, but they do work together.

A few examples I could find: Sylvan Offering , Ambassador Oak , and Elvish Branchbender

Krosan Drover is also an interesting one!

Elves work really well with warriors, with about half of the tribe being warriors themselves.

Key cards being Bramblewood Paragon , Harald, King of Skemfar , Dwynen's Elite , Elvish Warmaster , Imperious Perfect , Narnam Renegade , and Prowess of the Fair .
