Is it normal to get multiple sets in a single pack?

I haven't bought mtg cards in ~3 years since I lost like 80% of them in a fire. Today I found a booster box of innistrad crimson vows at a local walmart and decided to jump back into it. Nothing looked odd about any of the packs or the box but when I looked at the cards in the pack a I found 2 or 3 that were not from the set. One of them was a Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep which was going for about $25 to $30 online. I also got a foil Chandra, Dressed to Kill. So, is it normal to find cards from other sets in a pack or did I just have stupid good luck?

It was probably a set boosterbox, not a draft boosterbox? It would say "set booster" or "draft booster" on the wrapper.

Set boosters were released with Zendikar Rising in september 2020, as an alternative to the boosters that have existed in the 27 years before that. They aren't meant to be drafted, they're designed to be fun to crack open. Chances of more impactful cards, more rares, less fillers, Art cards, and a chance to open a card from the List. I believe that's where your Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep came from.

They're not that commonplace, you were still lucky to find an expensive card like that, but it's not as incredibly unlikely as you believed it to be.

Hope that helps!

They have this thing now called 'The List' where they reprint cards as well as print special cards not found in regular sets. They randomly appear in packs like a foil would I think.

Thanks everyone for explaining it to me. I think I understand everything a little better now. Its cool that you can get cards from older sets, but it feels like this will cause the cards on the list to drop in price making them less exciting to pull. But still its neat that you can pull them again in new packs.

Great pulls, though! And welcome back! Sorry to hear about your fire and lost collection :( Hopefully this helps reinvigorate your passion in the game.
