With COVID-19 panic taking root around the world (I have no desire to talk about that validity of said panic) and as a result nations and cities shutting down events and stores I thought it would be good to toss this out there.

Our LGS's are small business that work to stay open on vary slim margins and as such if you can afford to head into your LGS and spend a little money there to help them keep their doors open after this passes and keep some employees getting paid that would be wonderful.

even with their "very slim margins", most people aren't gonna spend money on things they don't need. and for anything they "do" need, they were already gonna buy from the lgs anyway

I saw a meme the other day along the lines of “notice how nobody is sold out of essential oils...”

True, but if you can afford a little spending at your LGS to help keep it afloat (or any other local store for that mater) it would be a good thing.

I would love to support my LGS, but they aren't hosting events for at least 2 weeks + so I'm just bummed out.

Too bad stores couldn't Host sanctioned events via Skype or the like. Could still charge w/ pay pal, etc and just hold prize packs until the 'all clear'. Obviously there would have to be an approved set up that would minimize the ability to cheat... but it could be done.

We are organizing our regular pauper tournament on Xmage this weekend, and when the LGS opens back up, we will head there to pay the entrance fee as if it was held in the store. A little bit, but it will help.

My LGS has a strong online sales mechanism, so good for them. Otherwise, luxury/hobby businesses will have to find a way to shift with the times or get left in the dust. It would be a good opportunity for Hasbro to partner with small businesses for some sort of local remote events, mayhaps these LGS can take matters into their own hands by lobbying with the big boys in their downtime to make some emergency promos not available @ big-box locations? Nothing to get the players to jump like these sort of deals.
