Deciding on a Card - The Song of Phyresis

Hello all,

I'm still tweaking and experimenting with my latest creation:

The Song of Phyresis

It's a Phyrexian themed Atraxa led Infect deck that uses Stax and counters (+1/+1, -1/-1, and Fading) to enable the Infect wincon. I'm considering swapping out one particular card - Hadana's Climb  Flip for one of the following:

What I want for the card slot is to have a card that can protect me from taking too much combat damage - and enable Infect.

I personally don't run proliferate but I know someone that does so I don't know how much you want to follow my advice but I would say that a major problem with Ensnaring Bridge and Dueling Grounds is that it would affect you and your monsters too. Also with Ensnaring Bridge you have to watch your hand size because since it's power greater than the number of cards in your hand, if you have a full hand of 7 it means that creatures with a power of 8 or greater can't attack so while it would protect you from bigger things like Kozilek, the Great Distortion smaller creatures would still be able to attack you. You said that the deck is an infect deck but personally I would keep Hadana's Climb  Flip because you might want that bigger monster that Hadana's Climb  Flip can help you get to finish off the opponent. I also get that you want some protection but sometimes a bigger monster is good protection, especially in multiplayer commander.

Deerslayer1925, thanks for commenting. Actually, I re-discovered a card that fit my every want for the slot: Spike Weaver . It's an easy target for proliferation that can pass it's own counters over to other creatures - performing the function that Hadana's Climb  Flip or the previously included Simic Ascendancy while having the added ability to control the battlefield with an optional Fog effect - sort of filling the gap that Ensnaring Bridge or Dueling Grounds would have. What are your thoughts on Spike Weaver ?

LVL_666 I think that Spike Weaver is a really good card for a proliferate deck. I would keep it in my hand until you have proliferate on the field though.
