I forgor that Ape is the proper subtype, and that Gorilla isn't one. I updated on MTG.Design so it should correct here as well. Now the typeline fits appropriately.

This deck would really want Grunn, the Lonely King and especially Neyith of the Dire Hunt.

Foe-Razer Regent can finally go in a deck haha

I think I'll build Zaren later tonight since a few plans of mine got cancelled. Was going to buy a truck but the owner is being noncompliant.

This plus Kogla, the Titan Ape plus a way to make your creatures indestructible is a 3 for 1 nightmare for your opponents. I would definitely make a ape aggression tribal with this one. Well done.

I'm currently building the deck centered around the Fight mechanic.

Gargos, Vicious Watcher is going to be a great control punisher, alongside Ruric Thar, the Unbowed to stop non-creature spells from being cast. Although I'll have some myself, that's a small price to pay.

Grothama, All-Devouring would be especially nasty, especially with indestructible. That's a whole lotta card advantage!

You won't get the card advantage off of Apex Altisaur, but indestructible will turn him into a variable wrath and that's just insane. Two +1/+1 counters per creature that it survived? So if there's 7 creatures online, that's 14 +1/+1 counters, making it a 24/24. That could TKO an opponent at mid-game stages!

There's also a few repeatable Fights you can have. Contested Cliffs, unfortunately, may not make the cut ... unless...

Oh and because I am a HUGE fan of secret commanders, Ulrich, Uncontested Alpha  Flip is making the ranks. Repeatable fights on a legendary is too juicy to pass up.

Check out the new stuff from New Capenna and it's commander decks. There were some new fight cards in there. The names of which escape me other than Boxing Ring.

I have the rough draft built and was testing it last night. I actually won a game! :0

Epicurus, this is the card I messaged you about.

I'd like to see the deck list. I tried to put together a Neyith of the Dire Hunt toughness matters deck once, but it was too inconsistent and janky. With your big gorilla boi here I think the theme could be more consistent. However, all of the cards I immediately thought of for him have already been mentioned on the previous comments of this thread. I'll give it more thought, and see if there's anything I would suggest.

As far as the commander himself, personally I'd allow it. Certainly not OP, and pretty well balanced.

I tried Neyith but there are non-creature fight spells and I don't want to corner myself.

I got out Borborygmos Enraged last night with Foe-Razer Regent online. So he fought 3x and then I discarded 4 lands. It was epic.

Sorry I was thinking of Nikya of the Old Ways. She's the one I had to remove.

Right, I should clarify. I'm sorry it's been an incredibly long week and I basically just woke up at 1pm.

I had Domri Rade out with Zaren, so I was able to have up to three Fights per turn with my legendary creatures.
