I made another custom commander and I would like some thoughts on it.

The picture didn't post for whatever reason. Here is the information on my custom commander.

Name: Rashid, the Otherworldly

Mana Cost: {W}{U}{B}{G}

Type: Legendary Creature - Spirit Shaman

Rules Text:

Whenever another nontoken creature leaves the battlefield, create a token that is a copy of that card except it is a Spirit in addition to its other types.

Whenever another Spirit you control leaves the battlefield, you may return a card that has the same name from exile or from your graveyard to your hand.

P/T: 2/4

First ability should say "Whenever another nontoken creature you control leaves the battlefield..."

Little too powerful. Should have a cost involved for creating the token/returning the original--maybe ?

Omniscience_is_life that's a fair point. I think I'll change the first ability to the following:

Whenever another nontoken creature you control leaves the battlefield, you may pay . If you do, create a token that is a copy of that card except it is a Spirit in addition to its other types.

Love it! Well worded

Honestly if it were up to me I'd just chop off the second ability, as it's unavoidable that the original cards will be recurred and that makes for some pretty repetitive gameplay IMO. Then having done that, I think you're free to get rid of the cost on trigger. Really a neat idea; I feel like there's not a ton of LTB stuff like this in MTG as-is.

channelfireball12345 I could see the repetitive gameplay that you're talking about with that second ability on it. Really the only way that the original cards wouldn't be recurred is if Rashid is destroyed first and then the tokens afterwards. I think to make gameplay not so repetitive, I could change the first ability to be what you suggested and then when a Spirit token leaves the battlefield, have the option to pay to recur the original card. Would that make it any better?

Truthfully if it were up to me, Rashid would look something like this:

Rashid, the Otherworldly

Legendary Creature - Spirit Shaman

Flying, Vigilance

Whenever another nontoken creature you control leaves the battlefield, create a token that's a copy of that card except it's a Spirit in addition to its other types.
