Legendary Dragon of White

Legendary Creature - Dragon 8/8

Legendary Dragon of White is White.

Flying

You may play Legendary Dragon of White from your Command Zone or Exile, but not from anywhere else.

As an additional cost to cast Legendary Dragon of White, phase out 3 creatures you control that each have a mana value of 8 until Legendary Dragon of White leaves the field. When Legendary Dragon of White leaves the field, put those creatures it its owner's graveyard.

While the creatures phased out as additional cost remain phased out, whenever Legendary Dragon of White deals combat damage to a player and reduces their life total to 0 or less, you win the game.

"If any of you concede before I resolve its effect to win the game, I'll attempt to kill myself" Seto Kaiba, probably

This is my first time both posting on a forum here and posting a custom card, so the formatting can be a bit awkward, and I apologize in advance.

Since WOTC wants to think of MTG as a system more than a game, I decided to do the same. So, as I was thinking about what joke I'd make if I had a YouTube channel in a April's Fool day, I thought about trying to make a Yu-Gi-Oh card into a MTG card.

Legendary Dragon of White is a XYZ monster, meaning you have to overlay (yes, physically) three creatures with the specified requirements (in this case three level 8 Monsters) in order to summon it from the Extra Deck (the closest thing we have is the Command Zone)

I tried as much as possible to translate as directly as I could one game's mechanics into another. I say as possible because we have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING similar to XYZ summoning (closest thing is Delraich and Demon of Death's Gate, so the wording is definitely gonna be wonky. Also, did anyone know there's no white or colorless Dragon with CMC 8? Kinda weird.

Let me know what you think. I'm never making a deck out of this (or any other custom card I end up making), but I can make a digital card only just to pass time and/or to play one time with friends on Cockatrice (when I finally have a computer again)

I kinda vibe with this card not gonna lie. Not sure all the text would fit on a magic card, but since this is basically a Yu-Gi-Oh card I don't think that matters lol

Omniscience_is_life, that's a problem every single Yu-Gi-Oh card has nowadays, which is why I, honestly, prefer MTG. A lot of them seem like a philosophy book due to the amount of text they have (they also scare me from doing this thing too ofter). I'm glad you liked! Also, I gotta add flying. Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't have keywords like flying (except for piercing), but we're not barbarians here in Magic the Gathering. Our Dragons here deserve to fly.

shadow63, there's a problem with champion a creature in this very specific case. The "overlaying" is more of a cost, rather than a triggered ability. Let's say I used Champion 3 creatures and my opponent destroyed all of them as the Dragon enters the battlefield. It would sacrifice itself, whereas you can't do that with XYZ summoning. On a similar note, it's not a effect, so cards like Skill Drain (Yu-Gi-Oh card) that negate effects of every creature in play don't negate a XYZ summon, while Torpor Orb would stop the "championing".

As an uncard, yes. Otherwise, moly, that's word salad.

Yes, and that's the point. There's no way this card could be printed in real life. Even though cards like Questing Beast and half of Strixhaven exists, MTG is a game with way less text than Yu-Gi-Oh (which is something I'm very thankful for).

To play devil's advocate, maybe the wording could be streamlined to...

"As an additional cost to cast Legendary Dragon of White, phase out 3 creatures you control with total mana value 8 until Legendary Dragon of White leaves the battlefield. When Legendary Dragon of White leaves play, put the those creatures into their owner's graveyard(s).

When combat damage from Legendary Dragon of White reduces an opponent's life total to 0 or less, you win the game."

You might still need the "while those creatures are phased out" clause, but I'm not sure how it could be easily abused. Are there "phase cards in" enablers?

The first part O believe could be reworded as you said. Only thing that's different is the creatures must have each mana value 8, so 3 Avatar of Hope as an example.

The thing with the "while phased out" is just to emulate ot having XYZ material, not necessarily because something can abuse it.
