A bunch of cool guild colored angels that have resource -> resource effects

other users have helped me with these, including most of the recent users on .

Here are the guild angels:

Angel of Preservation

Creature - Angel

Flying, hexproof

Tap X untapped creatures you control: Add X, then draw a card if X is four or more.

2/4

Angel of Rotting Flesh

Creature - Angel

Flying, deathtouch

Exile X cards from your graveyard: You gain X life.

2/3

Angel of Endurance

Creature - Angel

Flying, vigilance

Whenever you would gain 2 or more life, you may instead return target creature card with converted mana cost 2 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.

3/3

Angel of Wisdom

Creature - Angel

Flying, flash

Whenever a spell would be countered, you may pay 6 life. If you do, counter target spell.

3/3

Angel of Conquest

Creature - Angel

Flying, haste

Whenever you would discard a card, you may instead exile it. If you do, target creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn.

4/2

Angel of Hard Law

Creature - Angel

Flying, indestructible

Creatures can't attack you unless their controller pays 1 life for each creature attacking you.

1/1

Angel of Bloody Revenge

Creature - Angel

Flying, trample

Whenever a creature you control would die, you may pay 6 life. If you do, destroy target creature.

3/2

Angel of Secrets

Creature - Angel

Flying, menace

Whenever you would sacrifice one or more permanents, you may sacrifice an additional permanent. If you do, draw a card.

2/2

Angel of Imagination

Creature - Angel

Flying, defender

Whenever one or more +1/+1 counters would be put on one or more creatures you control, you may instead scry X, where X is the number of +1/+1 counters that would have been placed on those creatures. If you scry this way, you gain 2 life.

2/3

Angel of Revolution

Creature - Angel

Flying, first strike

Whenever you would draw one or more cards, you may instead skip that draw. If you do, create a 2/1 white and red Legionnaire creature token with first strike and lifelink.

Honestly, most of these are mediocre. Aditionally, what rarity do you imagine these being? Most of them seem to be uncommon. Additionally, which set would these be used in?

However, 2 of these stand as being overpowered - the dimir and izzet ones. The izzet one has the best stats and flash, while being able to prevent your opponent from countering your spells? The dimir is even more bonkers - every Terramorphic Expanse now has an almost free Ancestral Recall attached?

Third far behind the first two is the selesnya one, which is quite powerful.

All the rest are about equal - they require you to jump through too many hoops for too little a reward.

All the others have some interesting effects, but I would not play them in a limited deck most likely, as they offer next to nothing beyond their overcosted statline.

I don't think the Boros Angel really fits that guild's preferences. Why is the ability built around card draw? I feel it would be better to generate tokens or provide a benefit to creatures getting mentored. If you wanted it to pair burn with the true boros nature it could be "whenever you deal non-combat damage to a creature or player you may choose to pay two life, if you do create two 1/1 white/red soldier tokens" or something similar

Thanks for the feedback, and Boza do you have any advice and making them for evenly powerful?

Alright i changed the izzet, dimir, and boros ones. What do you guys think?

Also i wanted these to be powerful mythic rares.. but i guess they need a buff? some feedback would be nice

Ok, so mythic rares have the following characterics. They are one or more of the following:

  • a powerful card you want to introduce to constructed, but limit its effects on Limited.
  • a story element
  • a splashy card effect
  • a planeswalker

Currently, you want the first and third thing. My advice would be to not make them all angels. Angels are a white's iconic creature and on Ravnica, almost exclusive to Boros, with the other white-aligned guilds getting no more than a couple. Seeing a black-blue angel on Ravnica is not possible. However, for the sake of argument, lets make a BU mythic level angel:

Kamaz, Angel of Betrayal Legendary Creature - Angel Horror

Flying, skulk
Whenever Kamaz enters the battlefield or attacks, you may exile target creature an opponent controls until Kamaz leaves the battlefield. You may cast cards exiled with Kamaz.

Whenever you cast a card you do not own, draw a card.

2/4

That is a high-quality rare or decent mythic status in terms of power level.

How about demons? Would that work for all guilds?

ConstantVigilance I don't think you'll find one unifying creature type to cover all guilds, unless we're talking humans, because humans are as plentiful and diverse as they appear in the real world.

Demons are black aligned creatures. Dragons are red, Beasts are green, and so forth for many of the stereotypical creature types. All splashes into other colors occasionally but not enough to warrant an entire cycle dedicated to it without a really good reason. If we ever visited Serra's realm - a realm made by Serra the Benevolent that she populated with mainly angels she created as the guardians and human worshipers. Serra's realm got corrupted by the influence of Phyrexia (mainly black aligned), so the normally white-aligned angels could be influenced to draw on other types of mana, thinking in the lines of Innistrad's top angels Sigarda, Host of Herons, Bruna, Light of Alabaster and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. But that would hardly make sense for the Ravnica guilds.

Another choice for a diverse creature type could be elemental - as they can be both beings of pure mana (Cavalier of Dawn / Omnath, Locus of the Roil) or beings of a specific elemental type (air/water is often blue, earth/fire is red, earth can be green, tree is green).

As Boza said; on Ravnica finding angels outside white, white-red and to a smaller extend white-black (there's 3 over 3 blocks) is impossible. As such I don't think we should attribute the guilds' characteristics on this cycle, if ConstantVigilance wants to keep the unifying creature type.

If you'd rather ditch the unifying creature type, here's a few suggestions for replacing creature types - you may need to change some stats and keyword abilities to better match these.

Hmm maybe I could do elementals

I'll work on it
