This may be one of those exceedingly rare times where I need to denote Toxic X and something else, such as Toxic Y or Toxic N. This is because X is mentioned twice on the card with different values, and therefore could lead to confusion.
While it is straight forward, I do suppose eliminating confusion is always best.
As we must remember, someone who has never played MTG before may draft this card, and their experience needs to be considered.

Tapping the enchantment itself is a very FutureSight thing to do, the only card in existence that's an enchantment that taps itself, is Second Wind.
To adress the X thing, you could make it something like: : put an oil counter, on target creature. You lose life equal to that creature's mana value.

I do like the idea of tapping the enchantment, to limit its use. Very good! And paying life relative to (mostly) the value of the creature is cool! I like it!!

Cool Card! I feel like this could actually fit in with the rest of the cards getting spoiled right now.
