What ONE card would you unban in Commander?

Saw this question posted on YouTube and thought it'd be an interesting question.

While I am sure we could all say Black Lotus, let's just set that one aside as an honorary mention. (RIP Golos t-t)

:)

So what ONE card would you unban, and why?

I have a Golos superfrinds deck I had to turn into a rule zero deck. But on the plus side I got to add a couple of wish cards and Coalition Victory.

But the one I really want unbanned is Griselbrand so I can see those flavor-induced Liliana's Contract decks.

I would unban Prophet of Kruphix, since even the commander rules committee admitted that it was not that problematic of a card.

Prophet was more of a quality of life ban. I'd actual like to see more of them... cough krark cough

Niko9 rofellos IS busted. 6 total mana turn 3 is pretty good and only goes up from there, especially with any land tutors or anything that makes your creatures count as forests.

plakjekaas marwyn is not outspeeding rofellos. your little elves should be played before marwyn comes down anyway. rofellos taps for 3 mana turn 3, marwyn has to wait until turn 4 and you gotta play 2 elves that same turn to get that mana, which means you'll be playing 2-3 little creatures (at best) instead of 1 giant 6-drop. by the time you got mana to play marwyn, you've got mana to play land tutors. you also have to factor in removal. rofellos comes in fresh ready to produce a bunch of mana, marwyn requires resources to build her power.

I think the issue with Rofellos is less that it's fundamentally broken, and moreso that it doesn't have to make the deckbuildibg concessions that Marwyn or Selvala do.

That's a good point that Rofellos doesn't need the same one-line 99 that Marwyn does, but yeah, neither of them are busted at all. Giving mono green access to more mana just doesn't cut it anymore. A tuned green deck by turn 3 would be looking to Fauna Shaman put down a Beast Whisperer or Green Sun's Zenith in order to assemble the win by turn 5-6. Rofellos makes a lot of mana, but you absolutely can be looking to win at 4+mana, so it will always be more optimized to have two Llanowar Elves and a Fauna Shaman at turn 2.

Heh, sorry, I spent too much time with elfball. So many games with it, for years, and Rofellos wouldn't even be top 3 commanders for mono green ramp. Honestly, Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy is by far the best ramp commander, and Rofellos isn't even close. Two Llanowar Elves plus Kinnan at turn 3 is 7 mana and a way to use it.

420MensRightsActivist I'd say that Jeweled Lotus and Mana Crypt strongly disagree with your assessment of the situation. If you Jeweled Lotus out Marwyn, the Nurturer into land + Quirion Ranger on turn 1, you can Invigorate into Ashaya, Soul of the Wild and go infinite mana on turn 2. What's the Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary line that's faster?

The speed of high-power EDH is largely decided by fast mana rocks nowadays, and Rofellos is incredibly poorly equipped to take advantage of those. Which is why I mentioned it in this topic.

Now if there was a mono green commander that could tutor creatures or artifacts, that would be busted. Can't tell you the number of times I've had infinite and just had to pass the turn : ) Good opponents will even save counters not for the infinite combo, but for your outlets, and that can be really hard for mono green to work around.
