Theme for a Pako & Haldan deck

I'm making a Pako, Arcane Retriever and Haldan, Avid Arcanist deck. But I don't know what sub theme to pick. I obviously want to attack with Pako and then play some of the exiled cards with Haldan on the battlefield. I also want to keep the creatures in the deck low, to not exile them when Pako attacks. I have chosen some spells that put permanents on top of opponents libraries, as some kind of removal and steal effect.

The deck is quite budget and I want it to be more fun to play than competitive. Hit me with some suggestions :)

Ok, hear me out: How about giving another pet to Haldan in the form of Fblthp, the Lost? You could basically play it creatureless with the exception of little Philip. Put in enough ways to tutor for him and Proteus Staff. This way, you could basically stack your library turn after turn to hit the best possible cards for each situation. You would need some token generation and lots of protection, but this seems doable when having about 60 slots. Also, this would definitely be a unique approach.

Ooh I'm stealing Fblthp Staff for the Rograkh Malcolm list I'm brewing

IMO Hardcore ramp, t3 Pako should be your goal.

Someone mentioned this with the new Tibalt in the stream that MTGGoldfish did on YouTube tonight, but I think it applies here as well. It's probably a good idea to have a lot of rituals so that you can produce a ton of mana in order to cast more stuff from your opponents!

MagicalHacker That’s a good thing to remember! I’ll keep that in mind.

seshiro_of_the_orochi Nice idea, and unique, but I don’t think that’s the kind of deck I enjoy playing.

Haldan can't play exiled creature cards, only non-creatures. So Fblthp, the Lost has no synergy with him.

My haldan and pako deck is all ramp and extra turns spells and spells that protect pako. I wouldn't say that it is particularly causal though. In fact, I built it when my play group said they wanted to start playing CEDH as a way to dissuade them from it (and it worked.)

Casual Haldan and Pako is probably just running a ton of ramp and ways to protect Pako and then using your opponent's decks/strategies against them.

In a 4 man pod, 3 out of 4 of the cards you get are from your opponent's decks. I wouldn't play Haldan and Pako casually unless I had interest in playing a Stolen Strategy theme. If I were you, I'd fill the deck with ways to keep Pako alive and then use commander damage and your opponents cards to win. But of course there isn't going to be any consistency because the line to victory is going to depend on what your opponents are playing.

Peligrad You have a lot of good points. And yes the stolen strategy and inconsistency sounds kinda fun. I would like to have a deck that's fun to play and that you don't know before what chances you have of winning. And that would play out differently from game to game. A too consistent deck makes you tired of it faster...

So I should get some protection, spells to steal/manipulate the top of opponents library, and maybe some more spells be able to use opponent strategies to my advantage. And a lot of ramp!

Peligrad, I'm aware of this. But Haldan has synergy with Paco, who can perfectly abuse a stacked library. That is what Fblthp can do.
