Has anyone built an edh deck without rares or mythics? I've tried building a few, but I just can't make it the way I want. Some of the uncommon commanders have high cmc, and others have multiple abilities that don't match. I'd like to build Dina, Soul Steeper but I'm afraid she'll just end up as a glass cannon beat stick. What do you think? Edit: This is for a challenge, not a budget deck.

I think you could build a decent deck. I like pEDH and just built pauper deck around Dina, Soul Steeper and it's not bad. I was just looking at the uncommon cards in these colors. If you build around the gain and drain static effect theres alot of good cards to make a very synergistic deck.

Multiple times. The uncommon legends that have been coming out post domineria are very HIT and miss - I've brewed up a pauper edh Dina, Soul Steeper and can assure you it can do more than just beats but it does beats well too. Check out the compendium on here for some nifty ideas :) you may even find what you're looking for.

I’m not sure about that commander in particular but if I were doing it I think I could build a pretty sweet deck around Adeliz, the Cinder Wind .
Actually sounds like fun!

I actually built a "pauper" legal Korvold, with only him as the single card which isn't common. I have yet to buy it, but seems fun and I had help from quite a few people on reddit.

1) Select a commander.
2) Purchase $15-for-1,000 bulk box.
3) Build deck.
4) Probably do fine if you know what you're doing.
The main problem here is that the quality of the commander is directly correlated to how good the deck is. Meaning that you should just grab the coolest, most powerful, least synergistic commander you can find. Any synergy can really screw you over. But really, just make sure the commander has the text "draw a card" somewhere on it and you're probably fine.

YES! I built an Edric, Spymaster of Trest deck with only commons and uncommon creatures that were small and hard to block. Cards like Faerie Seer , Slither Blade , and Invisible Stalker make some great card draw, and your wincons can be things like Overrun and Triumph of the Hordes . Throw in some non-rare counterspells like Counterspell and Arcane Denial and you're off to the races.

Is this a problem with cost or merely for a challenge? If it is for the cost, you can build decks with rares and mythic rares and still have a budget deck. If it is for a challenge and not in consideration of a budget, I don't think that will go so well, considering the high synergy of some rare and mythic rare cards like Exquisite Blood and Phyrexian Dreadnought
