Next Commander

I love building commander decks and just want some suggestions for who to build next. I like to build stuff that is more fun to play (think Johnny/Jenny) and not as competitive. What do you all suggest?

I always try to build in colors or themes I haven't tried yet. At best, I get something new and spicy to love. At worst, I find out Boros Equipment Voltron really isn't my thing XD
Is there a color or colors you play a lot of? Build something the opposite.

Insane Rube Goldberg combo of some sort. Combo with 4+ moving parts isn't competitive, but by golly is it fun.

Marchesa, the Black Rose is a blast to play. It's also a commander that's easy to have a sideboard of about 15-20 cards to swap to adjust the power level or just mix it up to keep things fresh. You can go theft, etb/death trigger abuse, aggro, modular artifacts, tribal (typically zombies or wizards) or a combination of some/all of these.

Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger
Just build a voltron Kroxa deck and see what happens! Exclude infinites and just go hard into the staxy/voltron plan.

Thantis, the Warweaver is my latest hobby-room-deck. You can basically do whatever you want with it. Also, how about a colour-cropped Codie, Vociferous Codex ?

Gidgetimer That sounds fun and ridiculous. Do you have any suggestions? The only one I can think of is using Animation Module , Decoction Module , and Fabrication Module with Cryptolith Rite and something to grant haste to make infinite tokens.

The deck I made and enjoy is Tayam, Luminous Enigma (The "A" Team (Tayam Rube Goldberg Combo)). I have a full run-down of how the deck functions in the description. Other commanders are available of course and the commander you pick will determine what kind of silly stuff you want to do.

I 2nd Thantis, the Warweaver . The commander often has great impact on the game when it does come down... but if you build it right you don't HAVE to play the commander to be effective, which is the sweet spot for me.

I’m always a fan of using older/less-popular legends as commanders like: Lim-Dul the Necromancer , Joven , General Jarkeld , Cabal Patriarch , or even Questing Beast . They’re not always going to be as efficient or powerful, but they’ve got a lot of theme to work with and can catch people off guard (at a low investment cost). I’ve been deep down the theme hole, which is great if you enjoy it...but maybe just dip your toe in? Casual play is the best (probably only) place to try it...
