Seems like a good cheap commander on the go, 3 mana for a 3/3 with deathtouch is not bad. Just wondering what you guys think about this.

Isareth the Awakener Recursion on a stick, seems like it could have potential

Lot of solid counter removal in black...? I think?

Hex Parasite , Thief of Blood , Thrull Parasite , and Kaya's Ghostform , Supernatural Stamina , Abnormal Endurance , are all solid work-arounds for those corpse counters.

Thief of Blood is an interesting case, I hadn't considered that it eats it's own counter before.

As a reanimator commander Chainer just does it more effectively and yawgmoth is likely the most powerful for mono black. In a lower powered table in a playgroup that goes heavier into the political aspects of multiplayer mtg isareth could be fine, in mono black I'm unsure exactly what sort of value engine you could run to push her ability though, maybe build her to be deathtouch tribal? the small deathtouchers are usually pretty cheap cmc wise.

ZendikariWol, of the cards you've listed only Kaya's Ghostform could return a creature to the battlefield brought back with isareth, the corpse counters don't hold the exile replacement effect (they're just markers to help a player remember) and since it's a replacement effect a creature wouldn't trigger the death trigger, but ghostform would trigger off the exile.

That’s one serious bummer Demarge. Guess I’ll die!

ZendikariWol I attack with Isareth the Awakener to bring you back to play.

But seriously, I never considered counter eating for Isareth. The good thing about her that Chainer, Dementia Master doesn't do is the creatures stay alive even if she does, but she's also in colors that don't allow you to repeatedly abuse her ability using repeated combat steps. I think she'd probably work better in a BR reanimater build with lots of deal damage triggers.

So the question is... would effects like Roon of the Hidden Realm work for Isareth’s corpses? I don’t... think so, but a man can dream.

Again ZendikariWol... I believe it would work since isareth's replacement effect sends the creature to exile if it would leave for any reason, since flicker is an exile effect it honestly would be fine. Standard Feather players see this pop up all the time with Dreadhorde Arcanist 's ability when feather is on the board.

ZendikariWol, Actually, Roon's ability would replace the corpse with an entirely new creature. If you activate roon to exile the creature, Isareth's ability makes sure it goes to exile and not anywhere else, then Roon's return clause would put it into play from exile. When this happens, the creature is an entirely new creature when it enters the battlefield. If you look up Momentary Blink at the gatherer one of it's rulings states the following:

"When Momentary Blink resolves, the creature is exiled, then immediately returned to the battlefield. The game sees the returning card as a different permanent from the one that left the battlefield. Any counters, Auras, and so on are removed. Any spells or abilities targeting the creature no longer target it."

There are cards that are exceptions because they do things that follow the card into exile and when it returns like Flickerform . Absent one of those cards, any creature entering play from exile is a "brand new" creature and nothing connected to it when it went into exile follows it back into play.
