I need a token deck...

So I really want a token deck but I cannot decide what the commander or colors should even be... I've had a few ideas.

Superfriends using walkers that make tokens. I had thought to use Thantis, the Warweaver for this because that seems fun/funny to me. However the value just seems too slow to make swinging in with tokens a viable win-con.

-or-

Creatures that make tokens on ETB. Then use an aristocrats style strategy to repeat their entry, likely use something like Whisper, Blood Liturgist for the commander or use Yarok, the Desecrated to double up on their ETB.

What stops me is that I have a ton of token support in white and none of those include white... I finally got a Doubling Season too so I almost feel like I have to have green. I'd also like it if the actual win-con was turning a million tokens sideways...

I did get my order of the 4 brawl decks today and I've been looking at Alela, Artful Provocateur but I just don't see her making enough tokens to win with them. Also no doubling season there seems wasteful of the card... I'm probably just too attached to the idea of that stupid season.

There is also Siona, Captain of the Pyleas recently spoiled for the new set who combines wonderfully with Shielded by Faith to go infinite. Something I always love doing. Are there some ways to easily abuse Alela like that too?

I'm open to suggestions though I might shoot every one of them down. I'd rather not have another deck in the colors I already run which rules out the following:

Thank you for letting me waste your time :)

Shouldn't your commander focus more on having strong creatures and making tokens? For example I have a friend playing a red green white token deck based on starting off with big creature spells and tokens like Desolation Twin and then populate them (to populate is to create a copy of a token tou control). The commander of his deck is Atla Palani, Nest Tender who let him cast some heavy crature spells early in the game.

Want something off-beat? How about Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer ?

Want a brew where your long-sought-after Doubling Season really works double duty? How about Marath, Will of the Wild ?

Wanna really have a game where you're spinning the wheel? Atla Palani, Nest Tender . Like a token Cascade!

Wanna be the unconventional token strat that goes tall instead of wide? Take a look at Feldon of the Third Path !

Krenko, Mob Boss can get out of hand, I'm sure.

You could sac your way to the win or just go wide with Prossh, Skyraider of Kher !

Need something totally typical? Might I suggest Rhys the Redeemed ?

How about Rith, the Awakener devotion tokens. I hear White has some good stuff for that?

Sidisi, Brood Tyrant and Izoni, Thousand-Eyed look like they've got a good thing going...

Wanna get creative? Temmet, Vizier of Naktamun is a unique choice, but how much support does he have? Quasiduplicate is a good start.

Teysa Karlov is sitting in the middle of the Orzhov web of power. Know what that means? Lots of tokens and a lot more death.

Need to come out of nowhere with an enormous beat stick? Ulasht, the Hate Seed is your beat stick!!

Valduk, Keeper of the Flame is another beefy boi who benefits from auras and equipments a lot... as do Tana, the Bloodsower and Siona, Captain of the Pyleas ... Here's something else entirely. Voltron tokens?

Hope that was enough options.

Marath, Will of the Wild is a pretty fun token commander

I'm a huge fan of Rith, the Awakener and Hazezon Tamar as token Commanders. I haven't played EDH in a while so my builds are woefully out of date, but here are a couple of possible starting points: Smashface Gardening with Rith and Sandbagging with Hazezon.

Cheers!

Ghave, Guru of Spores and Marath above are your best options imo.

Also. Any opportunity to build a token deck is right up my ally. Feel free to call on me to help build token decks.

My I suggest you build a token deck around Iroas, God of Victory . Since white is the main color of token production you must pick a cmdr with white. However the things on iroas do exactly what you want without repercussion. Attack with tokens and creatures and not lose on the transaction. This will be a deck that feels aggro. You run cards like Brimaz, King of Oreskos , Goblin Rabblemaster , Hanweir Garrison , Hero of Bladehold , Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin , Legion Warboss , Leonin Warleader , Silverwing Squadron , Skyknight Vanguard , Tilonalli's Summoner , Assemble the Legion , and Outlaws' Merriment , then there's also sorcery spells and instant spells in these colors that produce massive tokens. Spells from Tempt with Vengeance to Storm Herd .

In addition to running Iroas, God of Victory and all the above cards you also run Starstorm , Fault Line , and Magmaquake and cast them after you attacked and while you are still in combat to create a one sided board wipe

My take on Iroas, God of Victory this is not a token deck though. But there are some token aspects to the deck.

I'm currently running Omnath, Locus of Rage . He has made a fantastic budget build and has been super effective. He's only gotten better with time as a stretch out my budget.

Wow, this thread really exploded. Thanks for all the suggestions. Going to take me awhile to narrow down what I want... Though casting a one sided Starstorm in the middle of combat just seems like a hilariously good time to me griffstick. An extra thanks for that idea.

I run a tokens deck helmed by Shalai, Voice of Plenty to great success.

She offers protection to your army early game and pumps them up when you've mana to spare later on.

I run a casual list with Tymna the Weaver and Tana, the Bloodsower which does a pretty good job of pumping out saprolings. It's not a dedicated token list, however it spews them onto the battlefield pretty well (deck is Don't be Blue).

If you want a lot of tokens, Ghave, Guru of Spores is going to be one of your best bets. Saprolings have a lot of support and he enables them well, especially when paired with token doubling effects. You will need a lot of dice though.

As for enabling Alela, Artful Provocateur , Shimmering Wings is an easy way of getting toekns, however is not an infinite combo in itself.

No to Emmara Tandris . I've built that one befor. It's not very good.

There's a player with a Marath, Will of the Wild token deck in my group. He tends to go infinite all the time. But if that's your thing go for it.

I'm sure what ever you do with Yarok, the Desecrated will be very good, but no white.

I cant say anything about Tana, the Bloodsower and Tymna the Weaver , because I've never seen the 2 together let alone it being a token deck.

And of course I'm all in on Iroas, God of Victory
