Commander (EDH) forum

I am thinking about making a favor commander deck with Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer as my commander any recommendations. I am not so much focused on winning but everyone having fun and using their deck at its best

It'd help a great deal if you

A. linking to your commander so we're all on the same page (you can do this by putting two brackets > [ and ] on either side of the full card's name, it'll show up like Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer . All this and more can be found in the "Comment Tutorial" underneath the comment box).

B. linking to your deck so we can see what you already have. This can be done by going to your deck's page, copy/pasting the name (everything after the "/"), adding "deck-large:" before it and putting more double brackets on either side.

That'd help a lot. Thanks!

My recommendation is to not do that :D

Group hug is difficult to make viable as it is, but this commander in particular just isn't very strong, is limiting in its color identity, and impedes people playing honest magic while enabling people playing stacks and combo decks.

Zedruu the Greathearted and Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis both offer azorius colors while offering better and more balanced group hug effects.

Group hug works best in specific playgroups. I'd make sure your playgroup thinks a slower, 'hey everybody here's some stuff' type deck is going to be fun.

One thing with group hug is that, even if you're not aiming to win, it only works in slower groups. If you are forced to slow people down to be able to do your group hug stuff, then your playgroup isn't built for it.

But if you do build, I would recommend fun cards with mechanics like Tempting Offer, anything that lets people vote, etc.

Clone -like effects are great if you're helping out your opponents. If they bring big stuff to the table, then so do you.

I recommend adding for Rites of Flourishing and Heartbeat of Spring to help keep the game tempo up. Do you want to help everyone equally at all times, or would you include "catch-up" cards like Heroes' Reunion or Inspiration ?

I think I would prefer more catchup just to keep everyone in the game and prevent them from timing out
