Ashaya is REAALLLLLY good

Ashaya, Soul of the Wild is better than you think. I promise you, it's better.

You think a 5 mana creature variant of mono-green Cryptolith Rite that is massive is all? Nope.

First off it's bigger than massive, like, a lot bigger. It is monstrous in many decks. Ever seen a lot of lands and creatures out? I see a 40/40 Ashaya. I wonder if Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, Soul's Majesty, Rishkar's Expertise, Traverse the Outlands, or Overwhelming Stampede would be good?

But even in a deck where it isn't that big, Ashaya is REAALLLLLLY good.

Worried about Cyclonic Rift, not on your creatures! Grasp of Fate, Abrupt Decay, Utter End, Anguished Unmaking, Oblivion Ring, etc. all are useless against it.

Not to mention... combos. Oh yeah, so... Quirion Ranger is an interesting card. It lets you bounce a forest to untap a creature.

Idk, what can a creature that's untapped do with Ashaya, Soul of the Wild? Oh, tap for mana. I wonder what's a forest that we can bounce? Oh, Quirion Ranger.

Yep, just those two go infinite together, only infinite casts, as you net even, but a Glimpse of Nature, Beast Whisperer, Primordial Sage, or Soul of the Harvest and you'll be just fine. Remember, it's a land that keeps entering, landfall infinitely, with a Lotus Cobra, Tireless Tracker, or similar, and you'll be well on your way to an easy win.

Have a Priest of Titania? Now you have infinite mana.

(Scryb Ranger can do similarly, another super easy combo)

Arbor Elf... yep, infinite untaps of itself, one Krosan Restorer and a medium graveyard, one Ley Weaver, or one Argothian Elder and you have infinite untaps and mana.

Of course, there is more, Nissa, Who Shakes the World, Timber Protector, etc.

Also, remember you can run Oblivion Stone, and all the rest too.

That's a lot of damage. Not to mention:

  1. This card can be both a powerful commander or mana ramp/combo engine in decks.

  2. Nissa, Who Shakes the World, Nissa, Worldwaker, etc. affect forests, and this is easily one of the best ways to get a ton of forests.

  3. Titania, Steward of Argoth and other lands -> creatures style effects (think Rampaging Baloth) allow you to get a to get a ton of value from your creatures, reusing them for 4/4s and 5/3s.

  4. Liege of the Tangle. Easy, clean reason why this card is hilariously fun!

  5. Howl of the Night Pack, Boundless Realms, etc. There are a million of these combos, literally go look. I'm not even trying.

  6. You can Leyline of Abundance for more value too, didn't mention that. Was gonna click start a new thread and just thought of it. Gonna click it now before I think of ten more!

FRICK THOUGHT OF MORE:

Magus of the Candelabra (easy combo, all you need is any effect that taps for like a few more mana), Illusionist's Bracers with Arbor Elf or a bunch of other untappers. Nissa, Vital Force and Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip are value from top to bottom.

Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger doubles your creature mana too now, and was pretty decent before at least ;)

Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar, Ulvenwald Hydra, Oran-Rief Hydra, Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer, Baru, Fist of Krosa, Sylvan Advocate, etc. all let you convert Ashaya's text into damage, and lots of it.

Deserted Temple is sorta an untapper now xD, and Hunting Wilds and Rude Awakening got a lot more powerful.

Vesuva and Thespian's Stage are now mono-green Clones

Maze of Ith gets really dirty with attacking creatures and untap 2 land creatures :)

Could it be played in cEDH as a green Urza, Lord High Artificer based around getting infinite mana and/or etb triggers or is it to slow?

Pikobyte says... #6

Argothian Elder or Ley Weaver are probably the easiest infinite mana combos

Dont forget Vesuva and Thespian's Stage become a copy of your creatures

Why WOTC? Why did you do this?

Now the only question remains...how much will my playgroup loathe an Ashaya deck? Because I want it. The stupid has reached critical mass (and here I thought a Warstorm Surge on an under-costed dragon was a sign...).

Just going to put out there that Ashaya, Soul of the Wild doesn't protect against Nevinyrral's Disk because it it worded differently than many other effects. Not taking away from her power, just confused as to why Nevinyrral's Disk is in the OP.

Wow I never thought of its combo potential. Or its ability to dodge all kinds of removal. But I guess its gonna cause people to run dumb shit like Acid Rain

Dangit, now I need to pick up that magus really soon before it spikes. I should get two because Ashaya will probably be my monogreen edh deck.

Holy crap. She's definitely going in my Ezuri combo deck and slotting right in for the more cumbersome Umbral Mantle infinite mana combo. That's pretty nifty.

Also, to extend your two-card combo into a three-card win-the-game: Ashaya, Soul of the Wild + Quirion Ranger + Altar of the Brood.

Alright, I've thrown together a pretty lean and mean combo deck because that's exactly my style: Ashaya, Combo of the Wilds

I found a few new combos and fun combo finishes not mentioned yet ;) I honestly might be taking apart my very first EDH deck to build this and I'm CONFLICTED

Btw, thx for letting me know Nevinyrral's Disk doesn't work like that, but:

Yisan, the Wanderer Bard now can get Quirion Ranger or Scryb Ranger and Priest of Titania or Elvish Archdruid or Beast Whisperer and Ashaya, Soul of the Wild (or a line with Argothian Elder/Ley Weaver for one of the easiest combo lines ever.

This means ashaya at least adds 4 different 2-card combos, and 3 of them go immediately infinite, another closer to Isochron Scepter/Dramatic Reversal that needs some mana.

With that, one-sided sweepers, etc. I'd argue this card is better than Craterhoof Behemoth in green cEDH lists and Casual lists alike, being a wincon through damage, ramp, protection, and tons of combos.

Busted.

You need a haste enabler to go infinite with bounce creatures. It says on the card "Nontoken creatures you control are Forest lands in addition to their other types. (They’re still affected by summoning sickness.)". I just wanted to point this out cuz its easy to overlook.

SynergyBuild I actually think it goes into yisan perfectly and opens up a lot more lines and gives us something neat to verse for other than Seedborn Muse; also where is your list so we can compare?

SynergyBuild says... #18

Um, apparently the forum thinks I am a fraud, and that I am an upvote bot now, but I agree, RNR_Gaming, Yisan is probably the 2nd most affected deck. Prime Speaker Vannifar is now... in another league, but it was way worse than Yisan before, so honestly they both might be tier 1 or near it.

Ashaya does busted crap. I've been researching for any other synergies, and I have a ton, do you have discord?

I'm not very good at using discord i just use it to play pubg. lol i can send you my user in a dm though

saluma: Summing sickness only applies to abilities with or in the cost and the bounce creatures are being used to untap another creature. They themselves are not tapping for mana.

September 8, 2020 6:19 a.m.

saluma says... #21

Och I see, sorry I misunderstood the combo. I thought you would tap the ranger for mana then bounce it, then replay it and so forth. My bad.
