So I decided to take the path less travelled and made a creatureless Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign Spellslinger deck.

The deck is extremely fun to pilot and thus far, the main wincons are via Proteus Staff or Approach of the Second Sun.

Hoping to tap on the quirky and zany minds of the brilliant deck brewers out there to suggest more alternate wincons for the deck, while adhering to the creatureless theme.

All suggestions and comments are welcomed, however wacky, bizarre and unorthodox the are!

P.S. While you're viewing the deck, let me know whether the layout and color schemes are reader friendly. I've been dolling up the page and would some feedback on that too!

Extra turns as you know. I run a few creatures just because it speeds up the clock immensely. I try to keep my stuff within castable range so if Yennett is dealt with, I can keep going. It adds more resiliency. THis is also not tuned to the max just cuz I'm playing against mid to high tier decks with this list.

Here's my list.

Again, creatures help, but if you want ways to kill people, steal their stuff or maybe consider Baneful Omen or other similar effects that gain value over time since you're going to be taking turns. Alternatively just blow people's stuff up with Balancing Act type cards with yennett out. People will hate you even more than before tho.

Arvail thanks for the suggestions.

I'd like to keep to the creatureless theme to remain unorthodox. wink

Both our deck lists have many cards in common. How are your games usually won? Mainly through combat damage, commander damage or other combos?

Fully agree with you on the "Extra Turn strategy", I've basically included all Odd CMC Extra Turn spells less Capture of Jingzhou due to budget and Savor the Moment which I'm undecided about its inclusion at the moment.

Savor isn't worth it.

I typically win with combat damage. People deal around 10 damage to themselves in my group via fetches, crypts, ancient tomb, etc. It's not impossible to chain a bunch of turns together to the point where even if I can't finish them, I've drawn 6+ cards and hit a bunch of land drops. That tempo advantage is huge. I rarely find myself losing games if I get to go off. The beauty of having enough draw and manipulation is that you end up getting to worthwhile cards relatively easily. Also, Elesh Norn and Batterskull have been great at closing games for me.

If you're going creatureless, make sure you have enough resources to chain stuff together. Walkers are a consideration, but they tend to be fragile and hard to protect. Still, I find it next to impossible to not win when I have Yennet plus Jace/Aminatou out and untapping.

Arvail Agreed. When we're able to chain together the right spells, it's usually game over.

Am trying to make the deck more resilient and consistent. Walkers are great when we can accrue value from their abilities over time but with the creatureless theme am running, I find it hard to protect them. This explains why am running just Liliana Vess and Tezzeret the Seeker in the deck, the former being able to tutor up 2 extra turn spells and the latter, putting a key artifact to play before they become "dispensable".

I haven't looked at the list yet, but Debt to the Deathless and the cheeper one + Liliana of the Dark Realms works pretty well.

You don't want X spells in Yennett. That's why I love my draw to be stuff like Ugin's Insight. It becomes a lot better when you've got Yennett out and get to cast it for free.

I'm using Overflowing Insight as it's less dependant on the CMC of my permanents and is a guaranteed 7 cards. The disadvantage is the higher cost and the requirement, which makes casting it without Yennett a challenge.

I hate that card. Least deserving card of a mythic status in ages. Not running it on principle. Yuck!
