Vindicate or Anguished Unmaking?

Commander Deck Help forum

I have a copy of Vindicate in my five-color EDH deck (the first judge promo, to be exact, which is now worth more than what I paid for it, making it a great investment), but, as that was the first EDH deck that I built, there since has been printed Anguished Unmaking, a card with the same mana cost, but which I feel may be superior.

Vindicate is awesome (and the promo artwork is amazing), but Anguished Unmaking is an instant and exiles a permanent, rather than merely destroying it; not being able to target lands is unfortunate, but not a major drawback, and losing 3 life is negligible in EDH format, so I am considering exchanging those cards.

What does everyone else say about this? Should I replace Vindicate with Anguished Unmaking?

You made every point I was going to for the use of Anguished

anguished over vindicate.

apart from the exile clause, the instant speed that anguished has will always triumph sorcery speed.

The only thing vindicate has over anguished is the ability to hit powerful lands like coffers and cradle.

You should swap them. Unmaking is much better. Both is okay, but Utter End is probably better than vindicate for the same reasons.

Thank you for the suggestions, everyone! I was already contemplating making such a replacement, so you helped me to affirm that decision.
