Commander Deck Help forum

So i have two commander decks that I would like to build, but I don't want to get them unless I know there competitive.

They are who said this would be fair? And !Blade to Hire!

Please help me, all help would be very helpful.

In your deck who said this would be fair? I noticed that you're running Breya at the helm. Breya wants to combo out and I'm not seeing any way of doing so in your list. You've some obvious combo pieces such as Rings of Brighthearth but I am not seeing Basalt Monolith which when paired with the Rings makes infinite colorless mana. Nor am I seeing fun things like Grand Architect and Pili-Pala for infinite colored mana. Take a look at my deck Combo Number 5! for some examples of combo pieces to consider with Breya.

As for your deck !Blade to Hire!, Boros is a hard color to play in EDH based upon the experience of my play group. You need at least three more lands because of the lack of ramp. In terms of lands I would recommend adding Rugged Prairie, Sacred Foundry, and Hall of the Bandit Lord. You could go a little further and cut a mountain for a Flamekin Village as well. Haste is your friend after all. I'd cut Crusader of Odric, Fortress Cyclops, and Duergar Mine-Captain for the lands as they seem kind of underwhelming. Next I would cut a few of the token makers for some spells that grant you extra combat phases such as Seize the Day and perhaps some items like Savage Beating that make your low power and toughness creatures pack more of a punch (also think about having Gisela, Blade of Goldnight on the field and casting Savage Beating entwined picture it and the expressions on the faces of your playgroup...now that you've got that image in your head cut Deploy to the Front for Savage Beating). Other cuts that could be made are Opportunist and Goblin Legionnaire if you want to keep some of the token makers, however, you likely should cut them for more board wipes anyway.

What is your standard for being competitive? In other words, what should a deck be capable of either on its own or in combination with the decks it plays against to meet this standard?

I ask because this is very dependent on your local playgroup and personal aims. It will also change the level and extent of recommendations I'd make for each deck.

Omeros, my play group normally have one hugs player, 1 or 2 aggro, and normally a control player if that helps you ,but what I'm looking for is so that these decks can play alone a still be able to win.

Okay, so not all that cutthroat is how I'm reading this. I'll make some manabase suggestions on the deck pages.

I got the idea that your playgroup isn't exactly super competitive, so I left some general Breya streamlining tips if you're wanting to improve the deck a little bit (though, the comment was super long).

I didn't even touch on the mana base because that would've made my comment even longer. In any event, best of luck.

I don't know what you consider "competitive," but generally high tier EDH revolves around two strategies - combo and stax - as displayed in the most widely accepted EDH tier list on Tappedout. If you clicked on the link, you would see that Breya, Etherium Shaper is tier two, which means that she has the potential to be a very competitive deck.

Again, I'm not sure what your budget is either, but your Breya, Etherium Shaper deck needs a lot more tutors. I would advise the usual suspects - Vampiric Tutor, Demonic Tutor, Fabricate, Enlightened Tutor, Steelshaper's Gift, Gamble, and Dark Petition to name a few.

You have the general idea of the deck correct, setup a fort and wait to combo off, but I think you are missing a lot of the streamlining that makes Breya, Etherium Shaper a high tier general.

Tajic, Blade of the Legion is a lower tier general, but still as the potential to be competitive. Unlike Breya, Etherium Shaper your goal with Tajic, Blade of the Legion would be to voltron him up with enough tokens on board to trigger his ability, then cast a mass lands destruction spell.

If you tell me what you definition of "competitive" is and a general budget for cards, I think I could be of more help, but until then this is the best advice I can offer.

Since they have just been released, I can't personally say from match experience whether Breya is truly competitive. She is good but I don't know about truly top tier. As for Tajic, Im not saying you can't make a good deck with him, but Boros is one of the weakest color pairs in EDH. it lends itself to small creatures and fast mana curves that work great for where the cards were designed for in a 1v1 20 life format but rarely cut it in EDH. If you are really cutthroat and do truly consider winning consistantly to be the whole point of the game then I encourage you to check out that tier list someone else linked to. Tier 1 commanders are your best bet.
