My first Blue Red spellslinger, dragon, goblin?

Commander Deck Help forum

I'm new to commander and have had some success in casual games.

I've never really used blue before and had an interested in creating a Blue Red burn deck for four player Commander.

I can find cards but I need ideas for combos and mechanics

I want blue for counter spells, card draw and synergy.

I want red for burn spells and dragons.

I though of using Dragonstorm and Dragon Roost to get Dragons on the board. Maybe goblins for chump blockers?

Thoughts?

Unfortunately you're going to have a bit of an issue playing control, burn (stormesqure considering Dragonstorm AND dragons in the same deck in that you only have so many card slots available.

However if you do want to make it work, lots of ramp will be the key - dragons are quite mana heavy and you want to be able to play them as you draw them.

Mana rocks will be a huge help here: Izzet Signet , Talisman of Creativity , Mind Stone , Sky Diamond , Fire Diamond , etc. will all be worth running. I would recommend at least 10 mana rocks if you want to curve out with dragons.

I would also recommend using one of the Niv Mizzets as your commander as they all provide some form of card advantage and are pretty on theme.

I appreciate the Niv recommendation. I had been looking at Melek, Izzet Paragon

I recommend cards like Murmuring Mystic , Erratic Cyclops , and Guttersnipe that like to combo with Thousand-Year Storm or other doubling effects. Other support cards can help you pull it off in very short amounts of time such as Goblin Electromancer , or Primal Amulet  Flip. Additionally, Niv-Mizzet, Parun is my vote for a dragon commander he is amazing card advantage and can deal over 10 damage a turn. Hopefully, this can stir up some ideas.
