Junk colors in EDH

Commander Deck Help forum

So I've become a really big fan of EDH over the last few years, but I've never managed to build a junk deck (), despite it being by far my favorite color combination.

I just took a look at the available commanders, and it's no wonder!

Ghave, Guru of Spores doesn't seem to cater to what I'm looking for out of the colors at all, which is large resilient creatures that I can reanimate time and time again.

Teneb, the Harvester seems prohibitively expensive to cast and to use. Six mana for a 6/6 flyer that has to connect with face, just to have to pay a further 3 to reanimate something? sheesh.

Anafenza, the Foremost is in the same boat as Ghave, plus I have a personal dislike for her.

Karador, Ghost Chieftain seems okay, but pretty much directly inferior to Muldrotha, the Gravetide .

Doran, the Siege Tower is possibly even further from what I want than Ghave.

Daghatar the Adamant More +1/+1 counter stuff. and he's horrible to boot.

Kethis, the Hidden Hand might be interesting, but I'm afraid he'd just devolve into superfriends.

So I guess the question is, what do I do? Who should I build if I want a resilient, aggressive deck that can throw down threats that attack, and block, and come back, and never stop? And how to I build them? Teneb and Karador seem like the only real choices, but I need some tips on making them work. Is this sort of playstyle even viable in EDH?

You could always do a partner match of Reyhan, Last of the Abzan and Ravos, Soultender to give you both resilience (ravos has built in recursion) and big stats (reyhan will buff your stuff).

I agree you could go with partner Commanders, but if you want to be attacking, aggressive and have the budget then choose Tymna the Weaver // Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa . Weaver is draw when you're attacking and doing combat damage to opponents and Sidar can make it difficult for your opponents' creatures to block.

Reveillark + Karmic Guide is good with Tymna and Sidar as a reanimate engine since Lark can reanimate either of them and other 2 or less power creatures. Hatebears and other 2 or less power creatures who have good ETB abilities or sac abilities are strategies to consider.

I <3 Karador. Been playing him for about 7 years in one form or another and while he and muldrotha are quite similar, he has one huge boon that muldrotha does not and that is the ability to run the Reveillark and friends cards in here as well as Boonweaver Giant to put them all in play. Sure, karador wont get in play much, but when he does come in he will only cost wbg and will be able to bring back a combo piece or hatebear with any leftover mana you might have. As far as making it more aggro, I have been considering adding Craterhoof Behemoth and Finale of Devastation and between those and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite your mana dorks can deal a lot of damage. Here is my current list if you want to check it out. As it currently stands, it can keep up with a lot of cEDH decks. Karador is great, and I will always advocate for his use.

I'd roll with multimedia's plan. Hatebear Tymna//Sidar is a nifty archetype that would be flexible enough to do what you're looking for.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I'm going to try a few mock builds. Digging through options for Ravos/Reyhan has pushed me more in favor of doing +1/+1 counters, because it won't impede on my intention of resilience nearly as much as I had though, and actually seems really good for it. Tymna/Sidar doesn't appeal to me as much, it looks really strong, but focuses a lot on these smaller creatures, which I'm not a huge fan of.

Might even give Ghave a shot. Dunno.
