Jund vs Gruul

Commander Deck Help forum

Making another banned play group deck in case in need/want to be an arsehole this time around it's everyone's favorite style land destruction hooray!!!! Now i've seen both gruul and jund and i was going to go gruul since no jund commanders have really anything to with land des.(they are about sacrificing creatures or creatures dying). (Jund is one of my top 3 color schemes but I just noticed that there commanders are all pretty much the same with slight variations)) and really don't see the point of adding black at all.

So my question is... am I missing something as to why people go jund, and if so should I or go jund or should go gruul? and what would be the best or most cheeky commanders for either color scheme?

Uh Lord Windgrace is the poster child for mld. It easily breaks parity. Allows easy recursion and the ult is super sweet. Black also provides the best tutors and some of the best card engines in the game

I think you made Numot, the Devastator cry by not including him in the conversation. XD

Klothys, God of Destiny turns destroyed lands into mana.

Could also use Reaper King w/changelings and just trim unwanted colors maybe for Jund/Gruul.

Seems to be more 'self land destruction' around than MLD. Guess it's just that taboo.

for the jund commanders, i don't think their commanders are all the same. you also don't need your commander to directly contribute to the main game plan all the time. even if the jund commanders don't destroy lands, they're still better for the simple fact that it gives you the option of another color. a jund deck can run all the same cards as gruul, and then some.

tutors have already been mentioned, but black also gives removal, and thats super important. there are also black land destruction cards like Rancid Earth. in fact theres actually enough of them that mono black land destruction is a popular pauper deck.

and finally, by adding black when you already have green, you get Assassin's Trophy which can take care of not only problematic lands, but anything else as well.

Korvold, Fae-Cursed King and Wildfire is spicy. All the draw you get will help you break parity and korvold is a beefy boi so he can get through wildfire and Destructive Force withoit dying.

Also, I just realized that Rite of Ruin with korvold is make everyone sac 6 permanents and you will draw 6 for 7 mana. Thoughts of Ruin also gets real good with korvold since you will draw a lot.
