Is Scepter of Eternal Glory Reliable in a Two-Colored Deck?

The new Sceptre of Eternal Glory is clearly intended for mono-colored decks, and it also obviously would be unreliable in decks with three or more colors, but I am wondering if it would work in a two-colored deck.

I currently have two dual-colored EDH decks, and I am wondering if the scepter would be a good replacement for Gilded Lotus in those decks, to help lower their mana curves, especially since I have thirteen or fourteen lands of each basic land type in those decks.

What does everyone else say about this? Should I put Sceptre of Eternal Glory in my two-colored EDH decks?

Personally, I think it would be a good piece of Mana rock redundancy. Its more optimal as it will cost less to get on the field, but also less given the inevitably that you will have the Scepter on board early game but not have enough lands to satisfy the activation requirements of the 2nd ability.

I guess it all comes down to how many basics you run, and the ramp you have to get more basics into play.

I am not sold on Sceptre of Eternal Glory in mono-colored decks and would recommend against it in two colored decks. Ramp is an early-game play--by the time you reach the mid-game you do not want to be ramping anymore, you want to be playing cards that have tangible effects rather than setting up future plays.

In two coloured decks, you almost never are going to have 3 lands of the same name on turn 4--and if you do, you are not likely to win that game anyway because playing 3 of the same basic in a 2 colour deck that early likely means you were colour screwed. That means that, when you play this on turn 4-ish, you are tapping it for 1 mana, making it a worse Talisman of Progress. Sure, it might grow eventually, but by the time it does, you probably will be wishing you did something more impactful for your 4-drop.

Caerwyn, Mortlocke, thank for for that feedback, so I shall keep Gilded Lotus in my two-colored EDH decks.
