How can I Lower which Turn I Win on?

Commander Deck Help forum

I'm trying to make an EDH deck, and I think I've found a good one, that's both fun and usually works. Yet, it's a turn 7 win and my playgroup keeps beating me on the sixth turn. How can I win a bit earlier? Are there are any cards I take out? Should I add more ramp or fewer lands? I could really use help! Unfortunately, a turn 6-7 win seems to be about as fast as a win of that wincon can reasonably go. It seems to mainly come down to two options: change your wincon to something faster, or find a way to slow down your opponents.

Also, you 1000% need more mana rocks and less lands. 28-35 lands seems super low, but that is the range that most cedh decks fall into. With your deck I would say go in the 33-35 range and replace what you take out with cheap mana producers.

As stated earlier, less lands and more rocks are essential. Replacing like 5 or 6 lands with artifacts like Mana Crypt , Mana Vault , on color signets and talismans and Chromatic Lantern are key to speeding up a gameplan.

Better tutors would also speed up a deck, so replacing Liliana Vess for Imperial Seal or Beseech the Queen for faster tutors would also speed a deck up.

In general: Ramp and Tutors. The better they are and the faster you can get your win-con online. By looking at your deck i can see that you have a lot of tutors but not enough ramp/artifacts and possibly too much lands. Also i would run more draw engines just and maybe some cycle land. Also by reading the description you rely on Liliana's Contract otherwise you just want to control the board. A turn 6 win means your playgroup plays basically competitive EDH and i don't think you can rely on controlling the board. On the other hand Liliana's Contract may be kind of "slow" because you have to wait till your next upkeep to win. In your environment i may suggest to look for alternative win conditions to Liliana's Contract .

I think one reason for being killed right before the turn in which Liliana's Contract triggers for the win is that your opponents know it's coming and their answer is either to kill you or get rid of the enchantment. More often than not, you get killed.

Why don't you consider Vedalken Orrery , Emergence Zone and Winding Canyons to flash the contract (or the fourth demon if you use Canyons) right at the end of your opponent's turn (before the start of yours)? Also, I think tutors will help you get all the needed pieces!

Left feedback on your deck's page. Hope some of that helps!

Just so you know, there's an easy way to link to your decks on this site, which makes it a slight bit easier to check out your list. Here's a brief set of instructions:

Start by taking the deck's slug, which is the part in red: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/a-deal-with-the-devil-edh/

Then use either of the two codes:

[[deck:a-deal-with-the-devil-edh]]

or

[[deck-large:a-deal-with-the-devil-edh]]

Which will produce:

A Deal With the Devil [EDH]

or

A Deal With the Devil [EDH]

Thanks everyone! I never imagined I'd get some much feedback, everything has helped, the only problem is my biggest opponent is playing Animar, Soul of Elements . So no white or black

Chaos Warp , overloaded Winds of Abandon , Toxic Deluge where = Animar's toughness (or toughness +1 to be safe, in case they happen to have a flash creature in their hand), Blasphemous Act , and any wrath effect should prove problematic for the Animar player, with some of the above also hitting any creatures they've been able to get into play.
