To cut, or not to cut?

Commander Deck Help forum

Hi all! I could use a hand with the final edits of this deck. I want to combo, but the deck usually just wins through value. Please see the deck description for further details. I am just trying to make sure I didn't make any obvious mistakes, or miss any obvious cards! I think this is going to be the first deck I buy singles for, so I want to make sure it is just right. However, minute decisions have become harder the longer I work on the deck. For instance: is Growth Spiral or Chart a Course truly better? Can I run Pongify and Rapid Hybridization when the highest natural power of creatures in my deck is two? Do the creatures my commander creates cover this? Do I need more sinks, removal, or draw? These are the questions I need a couple of new brains to answer! Any help is appreciated!

Depends on what you're trying to do. Growth Spiral shines in a landfall deck. Where as Chart a Course is an excellent spell slinger card especially in decks that can utilize the graveyard like Kess or those with reanimate shenanigans - neither is strictly better than the other; the circumstances/build of your deck will dictate which is the better fit. Also, yes you can run both ideally you would be using these 2 to deal with problematic utility or big beater creatures; a 3/3 is much more manageable than a Godo coming at your face wearing a helm of the host. Lastly, ideally you want to fill your deck with creatures that tic all those boxes. When I have more time if I remember I'll take a more in depth look at your list.
