Going Outside My Comfort Zone: Input Appreciated

Commander Deck Help forum

So I have recently been crafting this Izzet spellslinger deck:

Izzet Experimental

Commander / EDH* LordBlackblade

The general idea behind the deck is to capitalize on Mizzix of the Izmagnus' ability to chain together spells for value via cards like Guttersnipe, and then ending things with a fat Comet Storm. This is my preliminary build, and I would describe it as very rough.

It's a pretty classic build, I know; however, the archetype is new to me. Those of you who know me (and for those of you who don't) know that my "home-base" so-to-speak is black. I would argue that blue and red are my weakest colors, both as a builder and a player. With this build, I have gone way outside my comfort zone. As such, any input, general or specific, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and input!
