Font of Mythos or Smothering Tithe?

Commander Deck Help forum

In my Kynaios and Tiro deck, I have numerous cards that make all players draw cards, but I am contemplating replacing Font of Mythos with Smothering Tithe, since I need to help myself more than I help any other player, and that deck already has plenty of cards that provide further card drawing. I originally was considering replacing Mind's Eye with Smothering Tithe, but I am too fond of the eye to remove it from the deck.

What does everyone else say about this? Should I replace Font of Mythos with Smothering Tithe?

I would definitely make the switch. You already have enough cards to make everyone draw, so you might as well include a way to profit from it.

If you're looking at it from a pure power-level perspective, then the Eye is a bit of a bad card... but I play Verdurous Gearhulk so I'm not going to tell you to take it out :)

Do make the switch, though: Tithe is one of the most fucking busted cards of all time

Since every user here has advised me to switch those cards, I shall do so.

What about replacing Well of Ideas with Font of Mythos? Doing that would lower the mana curve of the deck, or should I keep the well, simply because it provides such amazing card advantage?

Personally I like Font of Mythos over the Well of Ideas.

Cheaper CMC, no color restrictions, and while their effects are different they're similar enough that I would say Font is the value pick.

Massacar, I am glad to hear you say that, but I would like to receive further responses before I make my final decision on that matter.

Also, the well immediately replaces itself, which the font does not, so is that worth an additional two mana, or is it better to coast the permanent as soon as possible?

I meant to say "cast" in my previous post.

Let me put it this way. Here’s the total amount of cards you’ve drawn with these, by turn.

Font: 4: played 5: 2 6: 4 7: 6 8: 8 9: 10 And so on

Well: 6: Played, 2 7: 4 8: 6 9: 8 And so on

So you net draw 2 more cards...assuming you play it on curve and nothing is removed.

Now, here’s how many cards 3 opponents draw from the effect by your turn 9, with each card. Font: 30 Well: 9 Now, the question: Is potentially being 2 cards and 2 mana behind your theoretical self worth your opponents not having 21 extra cards?

I can’t answer it. If you’re fine giving your opponents 21 extra draws to screw you over-or help you, then run Font. If you don’t want your opponents to have a ton of resources, Well is better.

You could go the chaos route and get all the that sweet treasure Teferi's Puzzle Box but that also effects you so beware.

The basics now you are not giving them extra cards but swapping there cards basically a wheel which can be good or bad. Basically lets say they have 5 cards they have to put them on the bottom and draw 5 more that nets you 5 treasures and you gave them zero extra cards but you did allow them to dig but it makes hard to plan out moves and sometimes shuffles away wincons hence can be good or bad.

There you go another option

VampDemigod, in that case, I do not believe that it would be wise to provide my opponents with such great card advantage, so I shall keep the well in my deck, and save the font for another deck, such as one with Nekusar, the Mindrazer as the general.

I should also mention that my analysis assumes you play it on curve. They still get more cards from font, but on turn 6, it’s more even. I should also make clear that font is more likely to ingratiate you to people.

Also, it bears mention that my number for cards drawn by opponents was a total between all opponents, and assumed a 4 player game, where no one is eliminated before turn 10.
