Deck ideas need imput

Commander Deck Help forum

I appologize ahead of time for what I think as a lot of EDH deck ideas/questions. I think I have one a week so sorry if its flooding the forun lol. However I wish to brew a deck (dont mind copying a shell of an already established deck) I just dont want a 100% net deck. My buddy has a abzan reanimated deck with teneb as the general And I hate to be this guy to just make a deck to just be a hard counter to his deck but the last few decks ive built just don't work against him. Most of the decks ive built out of 10 games matbe with 3. And thats usually with me having an explosive hand and his hand being meh at best. I have had decks with grave yard hate but have never seem to be consistent in stoping his stuff. Here's where I start listing stuff that I lile but all in all are probably not too great. I tried a rakdos demon tribal and it didnt go well because we'll rakdos I feel has not a very good fight against grave yard?? My question(s) Green black demons (not totally demons, but the core of the deck) with green grave yard hate ramp and draw affects?? Whote black demons for the fact white and black have good removal and white also has grave hate. Or same ideology with white black but angels?? Just a collection of thoughts so im sorry with the rambling but in my.mind green white demons seems not bad Grave hate Green has draw and ramp to be a turn or two early. And black has a few x spells that with greens ramp can make it hurt more? Like Killing Wave Torment of Hailfire General for green black I though of Pharika god of afflicion 1. For the colors 2. Her ability even if bot a creature can constantly remove his creaturea in the grave yard to slow his roll.... So what he gets a 1/1 death touch snake....most my stuff flys?? Or is there a better use for her you can point out. I'm open to all thoughts and like I said I want to play something a little different but yet have a damn chance against his reanimated stuff.

We have gotten so many graveyard hate cards recently in one year. I think that maybe you just need a good source.

Oh wow thank you!!! Also 2nd part of my massive post... Of the deck type...i now see the vast grave yard hate...but are my deck thoughts for colors and type too typical and only good in theory or can I make a half way decent either green white angle or demo deck with grave hate or green black demons with all that.?

have you looked at Shalai, Voice of Plenty as a commander? Give her hexproof and you've just become very hard to deal with. Rest in Peace and Grafdigger's Cage both fit nicely.

FWIW, I agree with griffstick that it seems unnecessary to build a whole new deck. You might need to increase how many cards you run that target his strategy. (There's a player in my meta who runs a lot of graveyard decks -- Sultai, Golgari, etc. -- and it's forced us all to adjust.)

For the future posts look a lot nicer if you split a brick of text into smaller paragraphs (more eyes can easily read it netting you more feedback), usually every few sentences or when the topic changes up (for example your first paragraph could have ended after mentioning you don't want to net deck).

it should be 1000% ok to retune your deck to always beat out another person in your playgroup's deck, they should then put the effort in making changes to their deck to better deal with your hate, a healthy meta should shift around to answer each other, he's also in abzan so he has access to answers to your graveyard hate.

Another question is if you're playing commander 1v1 or if you're in a 3+ group usually, a problem you maybe facing is how reanimator can be strong in 1v1 especially if it's opponent is building fair multiplayer decks.

Now edhrec is a pretty good deckbuilding tool for commander, especially if you're not looking to netdeck as it baseline doesn't show you decklists, but does show you the most common cards with a commander and just how common the cards typically are. You mentioned Pharika as a possible commander and here is her rec link here. she seems to be often an enchantress style deck by the looks of it.

Spacing out my paragraphs fair enough my bad.

And right now its just me and my buddy .... The two stores by me hardly have anyone playing edh. So to answer your question .... 1v1

And youre right to re make a deck isn't the right choice but for the sake of conversation, what do you guys think of a green black demon deck with grave hate to its core.

Or

White black demons with the same grave hate

And/or

White black angles with the same hate.

Or is tribal just not too too great???

A paragraph is traditionally four or five sentences. After the fourth or fifth sentence make a carriage return, a break and start a new line. This simple formating makes it much easier to read long topics. When you come to an obvious break in the topic, starting to write about something else such "My question(s)" make a new paragraph separating it from the rest of the topic since the questions you're asking are the most important part of the topic. Make them stand out or at least separate them from the rest of the text.

Currently the questions you're asking are buried among the topic... My advice is to edit your topic by adding some formating to it which will help you to get more responses to your questions.

Consider Anafenza, the Foremost ? The nice thing about Anafenza is she's three drop opponent creature reanimation graveyard hate from the Command Zone. If you never seem to be consistent in stopping your opponents reanimation then having hate from the Command Zone increases the consistency. Can really play any strategy in Abzan colors when using Anafenza as Commander, even Abzan Angels just use her for the graveyard hate. Hell can even play you're own reanimation strategy with her because she only affects your opponents.

With Abzan colors you could play this graveyard hate package:

This package can be plugged into any Abzan strategy other than reanimation you choose to play. Fliers are good with Anafenza's ability to put a counter on another attacking creature.

I'd suggest Anafenza, the Foremost too, as she is literally graveyard hate in the command zone. She can be built in many directions, flying dudes isn't the first one that came to my mind, but it could work.

Perhaps a B/U/X Clone centric deck. Muldrotha or Yarok could work... Then you can practically play their deck against them.

I personally don't like the commander because it provides deathtouch snakes for your opponent and those can really add up.

What about instead of punishing the grave you just punish everyone. Isperia, Supreme Judge punished people for attacking you all the meanwhile you’re rolling over him with passive abilities from ‘walkers and enchantments like Mirrodin Besieged to just eliminate players or like Psychic Corrosion to mill everyone out and basically cause a riot among other players.

If I went with "that" commander and with the deck style I had in mind, him having a few 1/1's with death touch is fine. I would just take the 1 or 2 damage all the while flying over top. Like I said I was just asking on top of all of this is tribal was "okay"? Specially green black demons.

As for blue white commander I've always wanted to play that too but always playing against control in modern years ago made me mad as hell. It just seems like control players where i played countered everything "just because" and it just seemed, ah well you know, frustrating. Plus I never really played any variant of control so I feel like if I tried blue white I would be that guy unintentionally that I hated playing against back then.

Black green or "rock" as its also called ive played before way back in ravnixa standard. Back when Deathrite Shaman , Desecration Demon , Abrupt Decay and cards like Scavenging Ooze were standard. Also had green for a tiny bit of raml, I just back then liked the colors and how it played and dispite my failure last night to convey my self properly my question is do you think it's an "alright" idea to use that green black commander to play ttpical "rock".

While playing rock for its typical instants and sorceries package I was not going to go full demon tribal but a common creature would be demons and not all of them just the 5 or 6 drop ones that have decent draw abilities. All the while the while punishing their hand and grave yard.
