Charms or Split Cards?

Commander Deck Help forum

I currently have in my red/blue/green deck a copy of both Izzet Charm and Simic Charm, which I put in that deck because of their versatility, but I find that they are useful only on occasion.

I am contemplating replacing those cards with Expansion / Explosion and Repudiate / Replicate, because those cards will be far more useful in that deck (specifically, for the first mode of the first card and the second mode of the second card), but I wish to seek the advice of the other members of this forum before I make such a change. What does everyone else think about this? Should I replace those two cards?

Firstly, don’t act off of hurt my advice. This is my opinion.

I’d say that these cards are apples and oranges, and there is no strictly right answer as to which should go in your deck. Technically, the charms do give you more options, but the second mode of the doubles are often more powerful than the charm’s effect, though once again, this is not always true.

However, what you have said is that these cards will work better in the deck. Therefore I urge you to try them. The worst that’ll happen is that you spend a little over 3 dollars, plus shipping, and find out that they’re wrong for your deck after playtesting, and sell them to CardKingdom or ChannelFireball for almost $3.50 in store credit. Or keep them. Or give them to someone else. There are so many things you can do if they don’t work out. So I’d advise trying them.

Moreover, it’s your deck, so I’d trust you to know what to add more than I’d trust me.
