Are cards from game night legal in Commander?

Commander Deck Help forum

So I'm building a Heartless Hidetsugu commander deck and I found this awesome card for it called Goblin Goliath , however it's from a group of multiplayer intended preconstructed decks called game night.

As far as I can see it should be legal in commander, but the site seems to think differently. I'm hoping it's an oversight and thought I should get some clarification. If it is indeed an oversight I hope it could be fixed. Thanks!

Edit: So according to official commander rules it follows vintage legality. According to vintage rules, "Cards from expansions and special sets (like From the Vault, Magic: The Gathering—Commander, Duel Decks, Conspiracy, etc.) are legal in the Vintage format on the date of release of the expansion or special set." I'd assume this would fall under that clause.

Yep, it should be legal (or I have no idea why not and that was a terrible idea from WoTC lol), but the site can't be perfect :)

They are legal but the new cards from that set are not very good.

Anything That isn't silver bordered or on the commander ban list is legal, and the commander ban list is limited to cards that ruin the game really easily like Channel , Griselbrand , Time Walk , Limited Resources , and Worldfire . You know, the fun cards.

That looks like a wicked combo there.

Looks like a very disruptable combo that cost a total of 10 mana and has to live the turn cycle to work.

dude it's red... there's a buch of haste permanents to enabler that like Anger , Urabrask the Hidden , Ogre Battledriver , Hellraiser Goblin , Fervor , In the Web of War , Hammer of Purphoros , Ashling's Prerogative , and so on...

Also the good old Swiftfoot Boots and Lightning Greaves !

With two haste enablers and playing everything in one turn thats a minimum of 6+4+5+2+2+1= 20 mana.

I'm not worried about mana generation in the deck, plus the advantage of that card is that it specifies it only doubles damage to opponents (pretty much the only effect of the type in mono-red).

I never said it was the linchpin of the deck either. Plus, I like my decks to have some weakness so I'm not the most hated player at the table. I'm not looking to play it super competitively.

Scroll down to the commander section for the commander banlist.

In short, no ante, no silver border, no conspiracies, and no cards that are banned/restricted in vintage, as well as a few other cards that ruin the fun / are way too powerful when in multiplayer.

However, if you really want to run the cards on the banlist, you can; commander is a pretty casual format and there aren't people to really enforce the banlist, I would just ask your playgroup if they are alright with it, and be prepared for some playgroups (if you are in multiple) to say no.

I have the same problem with Sphinx of Enlightenment . Is this card illegal in commander? Goblin Goliath is legal now.
