Will All-You-Can-Eat Buffets Survive the Pandemic?

I am very fond of all-you-can-eat buffets, so I very much hope that they survive this pandemic, and do not become a relic of the past, and the same is true for self-serve soda fountains and self-serve frozen yogurt machines; all of those are things that I enjoy very much, so I hope that they resurge after this pandemic is finally over, whenever that may be.

What does everyone else say about this? Will all-you-can-eat buffets survive this pandemic?

I do love me some buffet-style restaurants

It'll likely be more modified to have you take multiple individual servings with small plates or bowls, rather than scoop from a tray onto one plate. A lot of restaurants do this already.

My hope is, if they try to shut the concept of AYCE places, they keep them and just have a runner who goes to the buffet for you. ‘Cause that would be basically as good.

FormOverFunction, I could understand that, but I would dislike it, because the self-serving aspect was what I most appreciated about buffets, and, if everyone washes their hands and employs proper hygiene, there should not be a problem.

I hope they come back also but I’m not convinced people can be hygienic. Lol

Edit: Let me rephrase, they CAN be but will they?

hardhitta71194, if everyone is educated from a young age about the importance of hygiene, it is more likely that they shall observe proper protocols, akin to understand the importance of using seat belts in cars, obeying traffic signs, showering and brushing one's teeth in the morning, and so forth, all of which are basic skills that people learn early in life and then do automatically, usually without thinking about them, so proper hygiene is the next logical extension of that.
