Music Thread

The Blind Eternities forum

Some users love to post music; Here's s place for us all to jam out together.

Please be respectful and post with consideration to others. What I mean is, recognize that multiple posts in a row of different songs can bog down the front page with updates, and can lead to other user's content being washed over.

If you would like to dump an album, please do so in one large post - not a dozen singles :)

  • To clarify: Multiple posts are fine, just have some time in between them is all ;)

Thank you <3

Nice! Who doesn't love a good music thread. I remember seeing the 2cellos a while back and was very wowed. They are both extremely talented and I love that they can play so well together.

For me, I'm always finding myself blown away by world music and all the amazing artists out there. Here are a couple. They may not be for everyone, but hey, that's why we explore, right?

Thanks for starting this topic. I'm super interested to see what everyone is listening to out there.

I've been on a hard/dark classical kick recently--there's a metal version of Dmitri Shostakovich's Opus 110 Movement II - Allegro Molto that's been getting me through the day. Anything by Mussorgsky is good.

Also, Camille Saint-Saens' Danse Macabre, Carnival of the Animals, and Rondo Capriccioso, Holst's The Planets, and I might have return to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker soon.

If anyone's interested in getting into classical music, or think it's just boring pianos and violins, I highly recommend The Planets and Carnival of Animals. Both are approachable, thematic, and wide ranging.

My biggest problem with classical music is that half the names are like the Shostakovich one above. Don't get "Sonata 15 Movement 3.14 Fortissimo Cacio e Pepe Maserati" confused with "Opus 15 Movement III Lucretia Borgia."

Song from my favorite band, Seven Spires https://youtu.be/x_oNGHqOxBU

A song from a band I recently discovered last week that I’ve enjoyed by Ersedu- https://youtu.be/4eKQEEv3d3Y

I don’t listen to much outside of metal, but sometimes I’m in the mood for a more pop rocky sound that keeps a darker over all tone. Like this song by Scarlett Dorn that often reminds me of those now overly cliched “reincarnated as villainess” webtoon/manga, manhau, etc. series but with everything being futile instead of world changing. https://youtu.be/OuVq0sGL8yo

Oh. Don’t want to forget my favorite romance centric song by Blackbrair- https://youtu.be/kuvST3wGCG8

When I learn how to use the hyperlink thing I’ll use it. I’m currently not bright enough figure it out.

If I remember I’m going to be posting a lot of songs that I find that I like here, hopefully in that time I can learn something new.

Deathdragon610 You need to specifically ask a mod to be able to use hyperlinks.

I mainly listen to a mix of metal, classic rock and video game music. Does anyone here listen to synthwave/retrowave, though? It's been a genre I've been obsessed with the past few years. The Midnight, Gunship, Kalax, Timecop1983 bands like that.

Here's one from each in case anyone is curious!

The Midnight - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URma_gu1aNE

Gunship - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2hUEe0A5H0

Kalax - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJrpqSxJpUM

Timecop1983 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0xAWmTbInM

I don't have hyperlink capabilities, sadly. :(

One of the most reacted to songs I know of, mostly for the end I’m sure.

Nightwish, Ghost Love Score live at wacken 2013: https://youtu.be/47e_961OQWE

Speaking of vocals, this man has such a stupid range: (Beast in Black, Blind and Frozen) https://youtu.be/2N4tXf3Ensw

I like Melodic death, but only when it hits a certain point of brutality combined with melodic elements, for example, Joshitai, by Frantic Amber https://youtu.be/fQTmrxIL7Dw

KBK7101 I’ve been vibing with Kavinski’s “Night Call” recently, that might be worth a listen if you haven’t heard of him. Red Fang, Stone Rebel, and then a good dose of 1970’s Bossa Nova whenever I’m making breakfast for the kids or doing dishes. Even with whatever evil manipulation may be going on (mostly sarcastic) with YouTube I sincerely love the ability to bounce through a bunch of things I might not have known even existed. We’re truly in an amazing time. End-old_man_rant

legendofa As a classically trained musician, I love that you brought that up!!! I had a particularly rough day the other day and I put on Ravel's Piano Concerto in G, 2. Adagio assai and I just about melted.

brandonplaysmagic I'm not as deep in to Ravel yet as some of the others, I basically know Bolero and that's it. I'll check that one out!

brandonplaysmagic So far I've gotten through Gaspard de la nuit, Rapsodie Espagnole, and Miroirs. I had the full Daphnis et Chloe lined up next, but I'll check those out first.

legendofa Oh, I’m so jealous that you get to hear all of them for the first time. Sincerely, I hope you enjoy
