What are you funniest/coolest/most interesting mtg stories? And these can be from a tournament going to an fnm or meeting another mtg player in public. What do you have?

A friend of mine started playing because he found a Doom Blade on the ground and when he asked his acquaintance if it was any good, they were like “yeah! That’s a pretty good card. Here, lemme get you a few packs and teach you how to play”...

In an EDH pod, we were down to 3 people. The person to my left was playing Oloro and had a Mycosynth Lattice and a Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge which he had just plussed for 22, and the person to my right had a Nevinyrral's Disk. I ended up winning at 1 life, by suspending a Greater Gargadon forcing my opponent to crack the Disk. Even with a 9 power attacker, however, it took 6-7 turns to kill the Oloro artifact player with combat damage, and was a Gut Shot away from losing the entire time.

When I was first starting out I had a Rakdos Aggro deck (this was sometime just after Gatecrash) and I was playing in my first FNM. My deck had no sleeves and my opponent was so worried for me he talked to the shop owner and got me some free cheap sleeves for my deck. I had basically no money at the time so it really helped me out, plus it introduced me to the more wholesome side of the magic community.

Also later that night during one of the rounds I played a t1 Rakdos Cackler at the same time as two other people at two different tables. Someone pointed it out to us all, it was funny at the time (I know it sounds kind of lame).

Since then I've had plenty of fun and interesting plays, but none that stand out as much to me.

I'm mostly a casual player with funky decks. The first time I went to a LGS I was really scared about what kind of players I would play against, but there was this one dude who was as afraid as myself and just wanted to play casual with his token deck.

He was playing a Kaladesh Jeskai token that was awesome, turned servos into thopters, lots and lots of tokens every turn. I was playing with a Selesnya tokens with populate.

At the end I was attacking every turn with 2 5/5 wurms with trample, dealing little to no damage due to the amount of chump blockers he had. On his turn he would fill the table with tokens again, and on my turn populate a few more wurms and put pressure on the game.

After countless turns of attrition I won that match, but to this day is one of the best memories I have. The table with dozens of tokens, a few people gathered around trying to get a grasp on what was going on.

And I still gotta try to build that deck, it was awesome =]

I was playing janky EDH decks with some good friends, specifically my banding deck. One friend got us in a pickle with his Pramikon, Sky Rampart and was rightfully relishing it.

Until I blew it up with a band that included a lowly Battering Ram. An old and borderline-worthless card turned the tides again!

We had a great laugh over that one.

Best story ive ever seen was a five-player casual game with friends. One had just gotten out a Spawnsire of Ulamog out, and was getting ready to activate him for 20 mana. He didn't realize i had Sarkhan Vol on the battlefield, with exactly the amount of loyalty left to steal his creature. During my turn, i realized i had 20 mana. I swiped his spawnsire, activated it, and cast around 40 eldrazi creature, including Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. My buddy was very angry with me after winning on the extra turn lol.

i was at modern FNM playing against a blue moon deck. the guy plays Through the Breach into Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. im playing 5c slivers. i've got 31 life and a bunch of creatures. my buddy looks over from a few seats down and says "is that an emrakul?...oh you're fine". i respond "yeah i got this". my opponent looks super confused. he attacks, i sac 5 lands and my Aether Vial, and take the damage. my opponent is tapped out and i have lethal so i'm not worried.

he then starts to untap and draw. i stop him, and he claims he thought emmy's extra turn was an ETB. i tell him to just pull emmy back out of his deck and read his own card. he refuses. this is how i know he's cheating. so we call the judge over. i get my turn back, draw and immediately swing for game.
