This is the first Canadian Highlander Deck I have ever made. I made it based off of what I loved to do when I first started playing magic and that is milling people, countering their spells, and making zombies. I wanted to try the deck with some of the power 9 which seems really busted.

Update as of 8/13/19: I have changed the main idea of my deck around a bit. I have added a lot more white to the list plus I have focused more on the zombie theme of it. This is now a zombie tribal control deck. It has excellent staying power through removal and board wipes, and has a lot of good zombie pay-offs, with a small reanimator package. I have been having a ton of fun with the deck.

The main game plan is to get as many zombies out as you can. There are a number of powerful 1 and 2 cost zombies that support the other zombies you play, such as Undead Augur which can help you draw cards, Cryptbreaker which can both create more zombies, pitch cards to the graveyard to reanimate, and make draw cards once you have enough zombies. The biggest payoffs in the deck are Varina, Lich Queen, The Scarab God, and Throne of the God-Pharaoh once you have enough zombies. Varina can help you sculpt your hand and gain a lot of life. The Scarab God can drain your opponent very quickly and gives you a lot of card selection. And the Throne may not seem like much, but if you are able to attack with say 4 zombies and Varina out, you draw 4, discard 4, gain 4, and your opponent loses 4 at the end of the turn. Once you get the right pieces in place, you can overwhelm your opponent to the point where they can't answer everything you have. You throw in counterspells, solid spot removal, and the crazy value of plainswalkers like, Jace, the Mind Sculptor of Liliana Deaths Majesty, and you can easily pull ahead if your opponent can't respond quick enough.
