Maybeboard

This deck was designed as a collaboration with my friend, Tim, and was his originally, but when he sold his collection I decided to build it myself with a few adjustments. Sliver Overlord makes a very strong commander, featuring primarily library tutor and 7/7 beats, and secondarily gains control of slivers (while relevant, I find I rarely use this ability in practice).

Running a large number of slivers is an obvious choice, and the few non-sliver choices are all focused on adding utility to the deck. Signets accelerate the deck rather quickly and fix for playing overlord or your other 5 color fatties. Patriarch's Bidding allows you to recover after a boardwipe, or simply recover the slivers you've lost during the game. Training Grounds lets you tutor for 1 mana, or create tokens with Sliver Queen for 1 mana. Distant Melody enables card draw and Amoeboid Changeling can let overlord steal other players' creatures.

Some of my favorite slivers to tutor for with Overlord:

Quick Sliver in many games, I find myself tutoring this guy out first. The ability to instantly react to your opponent's threats or removal is extremely powerful, and this allows you to play at the end of your opponent's turn as well (which can be especially advantageous vs counterspells).

Harmonic Sliver is a situational choice, and since it's not a may ability it can force you to destroy your own signets. However against many opponents this triggered ability is devastatingly powerful.

Manaweft Sliver / Gemhide Sliver if you don't start the game with one of these in your opening hand, you may well want to tutor for one. Being able to use your slivers for mana to tutor for even more has a snowball effect, especially if you can give them haste with Heart Sliver .

Crystalline Sliver goes a long way in protecting your slivers from targeted removal. Be aware, he turns off Crypt Sliver and Magma Sliver . With Crystalline Sliver and Sliver Hivelord on the table, not many effects in the game are going to remove your slivers anymore (-1/-1 counters, bottom of library tuck, sacrifice, exile and bounce to hand will still work sadly).

Sliver Hivelord and Sliver Legion these guys are just great. Tutoring out Hivelord early can mean combat superiority in blocking, proactively preventing boardwipes, and attacking without fear of blocks. Legion just makes your guys big. While he's more of a lategame card, these two heavy hitters are going to be some of your favorite tutor targets.

Telekinetic Sliver is a very mean-spirited choice, but if you get it out early it can quickly lock your opponent out of the game.

Root Sliver obviously a situational choice, but very impactful against the right deck.

Bonescythe Sliver can make your commander deal lethal damage very quickly, and combined with deathtouch or trample makes your slivers suddenly very dangerous. I also just love the art on the promo.

Galerider Sliver / Shifting Sliver / Shadow Sliver when you don't want your opponents to block, the deck has many options to keep them from doing so. Be careful as Shadow Sliver prevents you from blocking as well. Two-Headed Sliver and Belligerent Sliver are in the conversation as well, but you're unlikely to tutor for these when there are better options available.

There is an infinite combo with Basal Sliver and Sliver Queen , along with Training Grounds or haste + Gemhide Sliver or comes-into-play effects. Once your infinite sliver engine is online, you can use the mana for tutoring, Harmonic Sliver , Necrotic Sliver , or Psionic Sliver . Another combo enabler Intruder Alarm turns infinite quickly with Manaweft of Gemhide Sliver. If you have suggestions or comments please post feedback!

Edit: with new slivers spoiled from modern horizons, this deck is suddenly going to get a lot of new cards in slivers and changelings, also I think I want to fit in biomancer's familiar and some green sun's zenith tutors for it as well. Biomancer's makes Sliver Overlord much better, and not being a sliver I'd still like to tutor him out. Green sun's, finale of devastation and chord might make it in if I find cuts. Stay tuned for updates, 5c slivers and changelings are getting spoiled all the time now
