The ultimate goal is to make infinite mana by enchanting Zaxara, the Exemplary with Freed from the Real. With infinite mana you can cast Torment of Hailfire and win on the spot.

To help achieve victory there is a Demonic Tutor and a Diabolic Intent in the deck. The hydra tokens made by Zaxara, the Exemplary can be used as sacrifice fodder for the latter.

But what if that plan didn’t work I hear you cry out loud… Fear not, you can cast some juicy X spells and make massive hydrae off your commander. Doubling Season, Branching Evolution and Hardened Scales all help with +1/+1 counter synergy and Simic Ascendancy provides an alternate wincon.

The deck definitely suffers from drawing into cards. There are a number of pieces that trigger off creatures such as Beast Whisperer, Elemental Bond , Guardian Project and Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner. Of course, Jin’s blessed bad boy Consecrated Sphinx can always help out.

The deck is insanely mana hungry and runs the standard ramp package. I’ve gone with lower CMC ramp spells (nothing above 3) and it was a good chance to play Elementalist's Palette.

Other honourable mentions include Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider alongside Vraska, Betrayal's Sting which spell instant death for one unsuspecting foe. Koma, Cosmos Serpent can take over a game all by itself and Apex Devastator can get massive value and also be fetched with Emergent Ultimatum. Kodama of the West Tree and Runadi, Behemoth Caller power up the hydra babies by giving them trample and haste. It’s not unusual to win just through incidental combat damage. Unbound Flourishing helps make things even bigger. Gargos, Vicious Watcher helps cast bigger hydra (which make up 10% of the deck) and a few sneaky spells can be used as combat tricks or protection (Strength of the Tajuru , Tyvar's Stand and Primal Might.)
