New cards for the deck —May 26, 2022

With the upcoming release of the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate I am adding some new cards to the deck. Previously my idea for deck has been a rogue mill deck that can recur or play cards that opponents dump to their graveyards. I am adding now the Venture into dungeon as a sub theme for the deck since Battle for Baldur's Gate has some cool new rogues with the Initiative mechanic that synergies somewhat with the Venture into dungeon introduced in the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms set (Initiative makes you Venture into the Undercity and you can advance forward in the old dungeons with it if you are already in any of them, and the old Venture into dungeon allows you to move forward in the Undercity if you're already in there).

New inclusions for the Dungeon sub theme are:

Rilsa Rael, Kingpin = gives you the Initiative and offers nice keywords for a creature during combat that could help the creature get through and deal damage to an opponent.

Ravenloft Adventurer = I am not expecting second and third abilities to be that important for my deck but the first ability is additional support for the Initiative and dungeons.

Dungeon Map = Additional dungeon support and mana ramp.

Fly = Additional dungeon support and gives evasion to one creature in the form of Flying.

Fates' Reversal = Additional dungeon support and allows to return one creature from our graveyard back to hand if needed.

In addition to the Dungeon cards, I am adding these cards to the deck:

Captain N'ghathrod = Auto include because of the last ability for my mill theme! First and second abilities are not that impactful since I do not ran that many horrors but they will support the few Horrors I have.

Alora, Merry Thief = My commander's new best friend! Alora gives my commander unblockable, he deals damage and steals something from opponents graveyard, and then returns to my hand. Next turn I can give the unblockable to Alora (or some other Rogue), attack my opponents and then activate my commander's ability which replaces him with the attacking creature that did not get blocked.

I might add some other Dungeon support cards later, currently thinking about Yuan-Ti Fang-Blade and Yuan-Ti Malison. There are still some cards unspoiled from the Battle for Baldur's Gate set as I am writing this, if they reveal some more Initiative cards I might consider adding them to this deck.

I don't know if Zareth is a good choice for your commander since to use his ninjutsu ability he has to be in your hand. Anowon, the Ruin Thief is good for milling and pumping your rogues. If there's something i'm not getting, correct me

TheWarriorWithoutName No, you're absolutely right, Zareth's first ability sucks in Commander if he is your commander since you need to first play him to the battlefield and then get him to your hand from the field. That is why I tend to ignore completely his first ability and just focus on his Flash keyword and his second ability. Anowon probably would make a better mill rogue commander but this deck I have build around Zareth's second ability; mill opponents and then get evasion on Zareth so I go steal stuff from their graveyards.

+1 for using a not so EDH-tailoered commander.

Could I suggest a Cunning Nightbonder? it would make it easier to cast your commander without it being countered.

eldraziboss9142 Thanks for the suggestion. I have considered it but I think it would not be so optimal since I have only four other creatures with flash in the deck (though I could always try it out!).
