Yuriko, Shadow of Tigers

Commander / EDH UB (Dimir)

Here's the deal: Turn one, you play an evasive creature. Turn two, you Ninjitsu out Yuriko and start drawing cards! I never, ever keep an opening hand that doesn't have an evasive creature and a blue and black mana source to make this possible.

Over time, this deck has evolved to focus more on the number of Yuriko triggers instead of looking for top-deck manipulation with huge CMC cards. In fact, I find that this deck runs better if there AREN'T a lot of high CMC Yuriko drains early in the game. It's often the arch-enemy deck anyway, but if you drain for 10 on turn two, it will be for sure.

Obvious inclusions would be Scroll Rack and Sensai's Divining Top, but they're too expensive for me right now. Soothsaying is a nice budget version of the rack.

There are also a couple of extra turns spells, which can come in handy. Often though I've found that they're essentially "Draw an extra card" spells, though of course it can win you the game.

Inkfathom Witch is a low-key win-con in this deck, and you can also use it on other player's turns to nerf an attack on you or boost an attack on someone else.

I've had really good experiences with Dowsing Dagger   due to all of the evasive creatures. It can easily flip on the turn that you play it, and gets back 3 mana of the 4 that you would pay to play and equip it.

Also, this is very low on card draw and ramp. The average CMC is under 3, and that's actually overstating it due to high CMC cards such as Dig Through Time and others that include delve or other alt casting costs. I've never found an issue with mana, as you will often draw into more land cards than you need. Additionally, Yuriko will often draw so many cards over the course of the game that specialized card draw isn't really needed. However, I've found that Ponderand Brainstorm are helpful for smoothing out early draws.

Doomsday is the "I win" card, you just do it on a turn where you can get through 4-5 Yuriko triggers and stack all the expensive CMC cards on top of the deck. Insidious Dreams is probably better but it costs more $.

Looking for any feedback!
