Minor Land Revision —Sept. 10, 2016

Main Board

-4 Steam Vents

+4 Volcanic Island

Sideboard

+ Blood Moon

Adding Volcanic Islands to avoid further confusion as to why I didn't originally add them, it was due to me still needing to acquire 3 more.

@ProvostZakharov

In my first iteration of the deck I ran Krark's Thumb but it had a tendency to cause convoluted draws. Anything that I could take out for Krark's Thumb would make the deck weaker, and it ends up being a win more scenario.

In a more casual setting I would put in Krark's Thumb just for fun, but it adds another combo piece which makes it more complicated to pull off. In the end drawing a Krark's Thumb in my opening hand instead of what I would take out could cost me a game.

You know that Casual is a format, right? No offense, but legacy is a turn 3 format, and I'm not sure with this deck if you can gain control of the game by turn 3, especially with running Steam Vents rather than Volcanic Island. If it works though, good on you. This deck seems like a lot of fun! Have you tried running Blood Moon and more Islands, though? THAT would be really funny, as well as help your deck stabilize faster and eliminate the need for your deck to run original duals like 80-90% of the time.

Nevermind, just realized Stasis is in this deck chill. I would still run Blood Moon and more Islands though

Legacy isn't a "Turn 3" format. It's just that a large majority of decks win turn 3.

@DimirAgent8

I appreciate you taking the time to check out my deck. I'm afraid I'm going to have to correct you on something, there is no format called casual. It is correct to say that there are casual formats, but there is no format specifically called casual. The term casual is refereed to as playing magic in a non-sanctioned setting (i.e. kitchen table.) With that being said any format can be played in a casual setting, legacy is one of the formats that I will occasionally play casually with friends.

As for the wonderful suggestion of Blood Moon it is an excellent suggestion for the deck and is an incredible card, however as you can see in my reply to TheInsanelyMadWizard I am already planning on adding a playset of Volcanic Islands to this deck over Steam Vents. My reason for not updating my deck with four Volcanic Islands yet is that so far I have only managed to obtain 1 and it will be some time before I can obtain the other three. With your comments I've realized to avoid further confusion I should add them to my deck list.

As for legacy being a “turn 3” format, as xXSarkhavskiXx said, legacy isn't necessarily a turn 3 format that would largely depend on your local meta. In Legacy turn 3 doesn't necessarily spell win for most decks as it's more so a turn in which major interactions between decks take place where answers are normally required for major threats, which this deck boasts a fair amount of. I'm not saying that legacy doesn't have it's fair share of fast winning decks, as it most certainly does, I'm just merely stating that that depends on your local meta, and if those decks can do what they are intending to do without disruption. This deck isn't tier one, nor do I expect it to become tier one, I'm primarily a casual player looking to bring something a little different and potentially very annoying to the table.

@xXSarkhavskiXx that's what I meant. I have played legacy before, you know ;)

@Azgrol First off, I meant casual is a format under the tapped out formats list. Second of all, I still think Blood Moon is a great addition even with the Volcanic Islands, if not in the main board then in the side. However, I do understand that this is a matter of personal preference and local meta, so it is up to you. Thank you for taking time to respond to my comment! I would also love to know how you get your duals and reserve list cards, as I am looking for cheaper, played editions of some cards for my legacy storm deck I'm working on (TES). Thanks again!

@DimirAgent8

I had forgotten to say in my last response that I plan to put Blood Moon into my maybeboard to test for my sideboard, that's why I haven't declined the suggestion. As for the reserve list cards, I managed to trade with a friend for my first one, however there aren't too many ways to obtain these cards cheaply unless you are fortunate enough to find them at a flea market being sold by an inexperienced seller as my friend with whom I traded with did. As for myself, I have a magic card fund that I set aside to feed my addiction, lol. I would recommend seeing if your LGS might be willing to knock down the price for some high quality trade-ins, though it's rare for shops to do that, I myself have only known of one shop that use to do that, but had to stop. I love storm decks, I'll definitely be sure to check yours out. Thanks again for the suggestion and comments.
