You Forgot About Fling, ft. Nova Chaser

What is this deck? Show

This is a mono-red elemental combo deck that makes thorough use of the Lorwyn card Nova Chaser to deal INSANE amounts of damage to your opponent. Sure, you could just play some kind of Kiln Fiend blitz deck or Infect, but when this deck gets rolling it can be extremely, extremely fulfilling for the Johnny inside some of us.

Individual Card Explanation Show

Ball Lightning - Generally good beater that can be cast off of mana or thrown onto the battlefield via Incandescent Soulstoke .

Brighthearth Banneret - Lowers the casting cost of elementals in addition to being able to pump up your dudes via the Reinforce ability.

Flamekin Harbinger - Mostly used to tutor for Nova Chaser, but can tutor for other elementals when needed. Also a very good T1 play.

Incandescent Soulstoke - One of the all-stars of the deck. Helps cheat out elementals in addition to providing a nice little P/T boost.

Nova Chaser - Hell yeah.

Simian Spirit Guide - Helps ramp out anything in the deck in a pinch. "Oh, but that card is broken and unfair!" Too bad, I'm playing it.

Smokebraider - Provides you with mana, but only for Elemental spells.

Apostle's Blessing - Can be used to protect Nova Chaser/Soulstoke from removal, but you have to pay 2 life, as there is no white mana in the deck.

Fling - Can be used to make thorough use of a Nova Chaser/Ball Lightning that's about to hit the bin anyways.

Lightning Bolt - This is a red deck.

Temur Battle Rage - Used to grant your beaters double strike, and 10 times out of 10 you will get the ferocious trigger because Nova Chaser is kind of a 10/2.

Blood Moon - Because screw nonbasic lands, that's why. Having mainboard hate for Tron/Scapeshift does help immensely as well.

Key combos Show

Flamekin Harbinger + Nova Chaser + Incandescent Soulstoke = Pay 2 mana for the Soulstoke's ability to put a Nova Chaser on the field, championing the Harbinger, which in turn will cause the Harbinger to re-enter due to the Chaser dying or being sacrificed. Search for another Chaser, and rinse and repeat.

Nova Chaser + Fling / Temur Battle Rage = Fling the Chaser after combat damage for an extra punch or just flat out win the game with giving it double strike.
