Hi all! This is one of my favourite deck ideas! As soon as I saw Obeka, Brute Chronologist I started thinking of a deck built around her! This is a deck built around Threaten and copy effects, and also cards like Sneak Attack which allow you to cheat in enormous threats, or steal other people’s creatures, and end the turn before the end step so that you don’t sacrifice or give the creature back!

The main game plan of this deck is to generate momentary threats that would die or go away in some form in the end step, and end the turn before that with Obeka, Brute Chronologist

One of the most straight forward ways to do this is with cards like Sneak Attack , Ilharg, the Raze-Boar or Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded . These cards basically put something huge in play for a tiny mana investment, or for free in case of the Boar God, and then they would sacrifice or bounce them at the end step. Surprise! The End Step ends early, and if you end the turn with the trigger on the stack, it will not trigger again! Purpohoros was the downside of only Sneaking red creatures, but many of the "fatties" of this deck are either red or artifacts so it will probably be fine!

Another way to generate threats for cheap is token creation! The most straight forward example is Saheeli Rai which can create token copies of creatures you control, and those tokens would be exiled at the end step, unless you end the turn with Obeka. Other effects like this are Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker , Mimic Vat , Rionya, Fire Dancer and Feldon of the Third Path which is a super cool card! Another one is Mimic Vat which is pretty cool as well! :D

This deck has a secondary plan, beyond the Main Plan of cheating something in with either Feldon or sSedris. That plan is reanimation, which is accomplished with things like Shallow Grave or other stuff like Puppeteer Clique or Gruesome Encore ! If you live the dream and get Shallow Grave with an card: Underwolrd breack, and reanimate everything over and over again! :D

The other secondary plan is an A+B combo, although both cards are still pretty alright in the deck. The two cards are Twinflame and Dualcaster Mage . If you cast Twinflame with a Target, you can maintain priority before it resolves and cast Dualcaster Mage copying Twinflame and choosing the Dualcaster as the new target. The copy of Twinflame will resolve first, the token copy of Dualcaster is created, and the ETB triggers again. You can copy the original Twinflame once more... and so on!

Twinflame is a pretty cool card by itself in that it can copy any creature, and keep the token copy of it with Obeka. And Dualcaster Mage is also a super cool card on it's own! Despite having a lot of creatures, this deck has 24 Instants and Sorceries which it can copy, and you can also copy the opponent's spells! So, that's cool! Once again, two cards that are good on their own, but can also combo kill the table!

As a Grixis deck there are a bunch of ways to put cards into your hand. An enchantment that lets you do that is Phyrexian Arena which is a very clearly EDH Staples with good reason. Another enchantment that sort of draws cards at first, and then definitely does is Search for Azcanta  ! I absolutely love this card!

There's also Notion Rain , Ideas Unbound , Supreme Will , card: Fact of Fiction and Valakut Awakening   which are other cards that draw a lot of cards! Another card that can draw a bunch of cards is Strategic Planning . And other two important ones are Frantic Search and Prismari Command which discard creatures into the graveyard to reanimate!

And there are three tutors in the deck. There's the OG Demonic Tutor which lets you grab anything. It's bonkers good, I can't not play it! There is Vampiric Tutor for similar reasons to Demonic Tutor , it's bonkers good as well! The last tutor is Clutch of the Undercity which has Transmute, and can get a lot of things like Damnation , Archaeomancer , Sneak Attack , Whip of Erebos or even Kumena's Awakening ! Also, the text in Clutch is not great, but it's text. Every now and then you can cast that card and have relative success!

This deck has quite some ramp because there are a lot of expensive cards in here! Something that might call to attention at first is that the list only has thirty-five lands, and that's because there a DMFC from Zendikar Rising in Valakut Awakening  . Also, there are several cheap mana rocks, one of my favourite being Thaumatic Compass

In the mana base there are some utility lands which are pretty cool. One of them is Bojuka Bog which I include in all my black decks, it's amazing! There's also a Path of Ancestry . There are a lot of incidental Wizards among the creatures, or at least I can scry out of my Commander. Finally, there's a Minamo, School at Water's Edge which can untap Obeka and get to use her ability multiple times for good politics!

This deck does not have as much removal as you would expect from the typical Grixis deck. That's because this deck is more Midrange and not so much Control I thing, it has a very proactive plan. That being said, every Threaten effect that permanently steals a creature it's like a super removal, which not only removes a threat but also gives us a threat. In that sense Slave of Bolas is awesome!

That being said, there is spot removal in this deck. There's ways to remove creatures are Shatterskull Smashing  , Inferno Titan , Identity Thief , card: Noxious Gearlhulk and Bedevil . And a pretty cool one is card: Void Walk which is a permanent removal with Cipher with Obeka! Finally, Meteor Golem is a catch-all answer.

There is only one Wrath type card in this deck, and that's Toxic Deluge , although I'll test the deck and maybe add more, in the form of Massacre Girl or similar creatures.

And this is basically the deck idea! I asume it will change it's appearance in the months coming, in that, this is a new creature, and a totally new strategy for me. But I'm excited for this deck! It seems super cool! If you have any suggestion, critic, comment, you love it, hate it... any feedback is more than welcome! :D
