"Yorion's newest tales

of happy ever after

inscribed in these shrines"

Shrines was a fun mechanic introduced in M21 assembling each shrines and instantly wins you the game. Now with Kaldheim, is this strategy still viable in a world of Rogues, Ultimatums and fellow Yorions? Let's find out.

  1. Yorion - I chose to add 20 more spells to add more answers to the current decks of today as I first posted this guide. This makes the deck more of a control rather than a simple ramp deck. You can also disguise yourself playing a traditional control rather than playing a ramp deck. There a lot of times I'm dealing with mill decks trying to mill 20 more decks against me. I always tell to these decks, have fun milling more cards from me! lol

  2. Happily Ever After - since were playing 5 colors, why not add this card? Its so easy to achieve all conditions of this card as long as your opponents don't have graveyard hate to exile specific card types. There are a lot of times that this card saved me from mill decks because they thought they already won WITHOUT READING THIS CARD. Then they will cry because I stole their win from them WITHOUT READING THIS CARD again lol. The choices of each card types are found in the other sections of this guide.

To summarize: More cards in the library, more answers to dig, more controlling aspect, more wincons.

  1. Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider - do I need to introduce this monster of what it can do to my permanents? lol

  2. Valki, God of Lies   - Why not? Actually I just use the other half of him as another overpowered planeswalker for me lol

  3. Cosima, God of the Voyage   - surprisingly, she is very good in late game reloading your hand and provide you a huge body...dont worry about making her a Vehicle its not worth it lol

  4. Esika, God of the Tree   - The god that can provides another source of mana and her other half calls these Gods above and planeswalkers below...also, having all colors of mana satisfies one of Happily Ever After's win condition.

  1. Heartless Act is your early game removal choices against aggressive decks like Lotus Cobra s, Scute Swarm s, Robber of the Rich , Questing Beast , etc.

  2. Binding the Old Gods is your answers against annoying permanents like Teferi's Tutelage , Elspeth Conquers Death , Ugin, the Spirit Dragon , etc. Also, it fetches your Forest Triomes which accelerates you further.

  3. Doomskar and Extinction Event - are your answers against go wide decks and to exterminate those insects and cobras.

  1. Kaya the Inexorable - she is an annoying planeswalker that exiles nonland permanents

  2. Ugin, the Spirit Dragon - you know what it does! lol Your final best option when these shrines are gone.

So far, this deck reached diamond in MTG Arena along with my other decks this standard season. As always, suggestions and comments are very welcome to improve this deck.
