Xantcha Worldgorger Primer

Commander / EDH

Madgator

The classic Worldgorger Dragon combo is the original infinite combo of Magic, and Xantcha makes an excellent shell for it.
Xantcha's primary win condition is to get Worldgorger into the grave by any of various methods, and reanimate it with one of the three reanimator enchantments; Animate Dead, Necromancy, or Dance of the Dead.

When the dragon enters all of your other permanents will go to exile, including the enchantment which is keeping the dragon in play. This causes the dragon to fall back into the graveyard, bringing back the rest of your board and allowing you to float mana from your lands and artifacts that ETB untapped. After floating this mana, the reanimation enchantment (which also came back) is used to bring the dragon back for another round. This process repeats for infinite enters/leaves the battlefield triggers, infinite death triggers, and infinite mana / activated abilities where applicable.

The deck's backup win condition is the classic Kiki-Jiki/Zealous Conscripts combo. This is fired from the graveyard by using Buried Alive and any of the reanimation spells. Casting BA, place Kiki, Zealous Conscripts, and Phyrexian Delver into the graveyard. Then reanimate the Delver. When the Delver enters the field, use its trigger to reanimate Kiki. Tap Kiki to make a copy of Delver, and use the copy's trigger to reanimate the Conscripts. Finally use the Conscript's trigger to untap Kiki. Tap Kiki targeting the Conscripts and you can make an infinite army of hasty 2/2s for the kill.

You have many options for firing the Worldgorger combo. The easiest way is with the card Final Parting. For 5 mana, you put the dragon into the graveyard and the reanimation spell into your hand in one stroke.

Doomsday is another way if Xantcha is in play. Creating a pile consisting of Faithless Looting, Worldgorger, Animate Dead, and Bitter Ordeal can win you the game if you can draw a card. If you draw into a reanimation spell and Entomb you're there. A cute piece of tech is using Vampiric Tutor with the Timepiece to get the dragon into or out of the graveyard suddenly.

As far as actually killing your opponents, the deck has several options once the combo is going. Sunscorched Desert, Shivan Gorge, and Leechridden Swamp can all ping opponents to death. Bitter Ordeal can exile their libraries and is almost impossible to stop. Xantcha herself can be passed around to kill up to 2 players while drawing your deck, if she was in play before you combo-ed off.

The Worldgorger combo has a blowout condition: If something removes the dragon while its ETB trigger is on the stack, your entire board is exiled forever. This is the reason for the many redirect spells and hand-discard effects. You want to proactively remove instant-speed removal from your opponent's hands, and prevent their spells from hitting your dragon. The dragon's ETB is also stopped by Hushwing Gryff / Torpor Orb, so the deck contains a goodly amount of removal.
