Sideboard


The philosophy is simple. Zurgo hits you 3 times (twice if he gets double strike) and you lose. Lots of mana rocks get Zurgo out quickly. Cheap protection spells save him from removal and make him unblockable. I can win on turn 5 or 6 if they have no answers.
Zurgo is indestructible on my turn, so I put in as many Wrath of God effects I could. This makes the deck incredibly strong against any creature-based deck, especially those that rely on Hexproof/Shroud/Protection. Wrath Effects I tried to avoid: 1) Those that will remove Zurgo (creatures get -x/-x, exile effects, etc.). Terminus is in there because if I can cast it for the Miracle cost, I can usually have enough mana to cast Zurgo again in the same turn. 2) Those that destroy artifacts, as I rely heavily on mana rocks. There's a couple in there though. 3) CMC 7 or higher, as the deck is supposed to be very fast.

I built this deck in response to a nasty Narset, Enlighted Master deck. Hexproof doesn't save her against Zurgo! We mostly play Duel Commander, but Zurgo does fairly well in multiplayer.
