"Why Does My Playgroup Target Me?"

Commander / EDH WUB (Esper)

Ovanlight

There is no way to hide what a Sen Triplets deck does.

I wish I could just tell my opponents that this is just a politics deck or maybe that I won't target them for the upkeep trigger, but I will do no such thing.

Originally, this deck was going to be a Ruric Thar, the Unbowed deck meant to slow down decks that are hyper-competitive, but slowly, I fell out of love with that deck idea. has a lot to offer when it comes to removal, burn, ramp, and card draw, but lacked the amount of disruption that could be creature-based and not artifact or enchantment-based. Sen Triplets gives just more flexibility for how you want to make your opponents suffer, and most importantly, you might even be able to make the problem-player not able to counter your spells for important turns. Also, make sure you realize that there is no game-winning combo you're looking for in this deck.

Your goal is to ramp out your commander as soon as possible. If you can get it out around turn 3, you get an opportunity to cast spells that your opponents need to crush each other.

If you're unable to get your commander out early, there is a side-theme of wheels to cause your opponent to discard the hand they kept.

These cards are most important to play when you can get Notion Thief , Alms Collector , or Narset, Parter of Veils so your opponents can't get anything out of your Jace's Archivist , Windfall , and Teferi's Puzzle Box .

Also, you can feel like a baller when you get out your Smothering Tithe and then wheel everyone to get 21+ mana.

You might want to know what your targets have to offer you before you target them. There's a lot to look at your opponent's hands, but we'll stick with just a few:

Zur's Weirding lets you see what everyone is doing at all times, as well as give some discard utility whenever anyone draws, and if you can get an opponent to use it and pay 2 life, you just shocked them for free!

We're also running a copy of Gitaxian Probe as a quick peek and a cantrip for 2 mana if you're wanting your mana open to counter a few things here and there.

You may wonder why I didn't run Telepathy . It goes just a little early in the game and telegraphs everything you're doing without any utility stapled on. I'd rather wait until the info matters more in the game, but this is a card that I'm considering.

Shimmer Myr and Leyline of Anticipation are to just cast things in ways your opponents can't react to, like your commander.

To get multiple triggers from Sen Triplets , we're also trying to either get out Paradox Haze or attach Helm of the Host which can make your turn uninterrupted by your opponents.

Lastly, deck:Ethersworn Cannonist is just a little bit of slowing your opponents down so they can't tear apart your board while you're playing their decks.

The deck is a WIP, but now my new pet-deck since my Mono-Red infinite turns is retired.

Thanks in advance for all advice on this deck!
